Just wondered if anyone with little or some known Romany ancestry has had an autosomal DNA test and would be willing to share there results?  I think there have been similar threads on this site but no real answers.

Hi folks I have just received my results Great Britain 42%, Scandinavia 32%, Ireland 11%, Iberian Peninsula 8% ,Europe West 4%, Europe East 1%, West Asia 2% (middle east 1%,caucasus 1%).Could anyone offer any interpretation on these results. I wasn't expecting such a break down in percentages lol!.Any help gratefully received :).

Hi i have some ancestors living  at an address described as Caravan House in Addingham Yorkshire on the 1861 census, and in the same place on the 1851 described just as Caravan.The family Ann Whittaker brn abt 1800 Addingham and Hartley Whittaker (son of William and Ann) born abt 1857 Addingham. Just wondered if this is to early for travellers to be living in Caravans?   :)

Would a Romany have described themselves as a Metal Broker? I have various memebers of my Hartley line who are described as Metal Brokers,Iron Scrap Dealers and Marine Store Dealers, are these all basically the same occupations?Also would a cabinet maker have been a travelling occupation? thanks for any advice  :)

Im trying to find out who the parents were for William Whittaker, a Tinner born 1829 Keighley.I cant find him before the 1861 census. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks

Does anyone know if the occupation carter was used in connection with gypsies?I know it means someone with a horse and cart or cart, just wondered if anyones travelling ancestors was described as having this occupation. :)
