Norfolk Lookup Requests / East Anglia Pedigrees Vol 13 - Gooch of Hingham
« on: Saturday 09 March 24 21:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

Does anyone have access to this book, and more specifically, the pedigree for Gooch of Hingham on p82?

I have Chancery documents received from the TNA of a case involving my 9 x ggf Wheatly Gooch in 1691 regarding land in Hingham and Deopham of which he is heir. His father was Thomas Gooch who died about Jun 1687. His will was proved in 1689 but is unable to be copied by Suffolk Archives, and I'm stuck!

I would be most grateful to anyone who could provide a copy of this pedigree to help me break down this brick wall please!

Thanks in anticipation,
Samantha

Herefordshire Lookup Requests / Settlement records c1815-1817
« on: Sunday 17 April 22 03:23 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I believe Coreley, Shropshire was within the Diocese of Hereford and am looking for settlement papers for an ancestor who was likely returned there from Kidderminster after the birth of an illegitimate child in 1815.
Can anyone tell me where to find settlement examinations and certificates for this time period please, or would they have remained with the parish?
Regards
Samantha

Gloucestershire / Watsome Farm, Charfield - photo please?
« on: Saturday 12 January 13 08:47 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone either live near or travel past Charfield in Gloucestershire? Watsome Farm is a Grade II listed farmhouse which was in my Downs family for at least 3 generations (it appears Edmund Downs, my 8 x great grandfather built it judging by it's stated age). It's just off Wotton Road so Google street view doesn't help, and I can't find any photos of it using Google Image search. Can anyone get a picture of it for me please, I'd be forever grateful!

Dublin / St Andrew's RC parish records - Hoy
« on: Friday 17 February 12 08:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hello!

Wondering if anyone is able to check the original of an entry I found on irishgenealogy.ie please?

I have been searching for Augustine Hoy, a Catholic born about 1814 in Dublin according to the passenger list of the ship on which he emigrated.

The only potential entry on irishgenealogy.ie, which is now supposed to be complete for Catholic records in Dublin is one in 1816 for 'Kugonem' Hoy, son of Patritii and Elizabeth.

Book Number   Page   Entry Number   Record_Identifier
14                    123             4906           DU-RC-BA-173587

I am hoping that Kugonem is not an obscure name but is a mistranscription of Augustine.

Is anybody able to help me confirm or disprove my hope? I would be extremely grateful, this has been a brickwall for 2 decades now....

Thank you in anticipation!

Staffordshire / St Margaret's, Great Barr - Robbins
« on: Wednesday 21 September 11 08:52 BST (UK)  »
Hello

Does anyone have access to these registers? I have discovered through wills that my Ann Robbins was from Great Barr, and her father was William.

Judging by the date of her marriage and the years she had children, her birth was likely around 1725 plus or minus 5 years.

If anyone has access to the registers, I would love to confirm her baptism date and hopefully discover her mother's name, please!

Warwickshire / St Paul, Leamington Spa lookup please?
« on: Thursday 25 August 11 14:51 BST (UK)  »
Hello!

I think I may have just stumbled onto another secret chapter of my great grandmother's life. As far a sI know, she was the only Leah Swinbourne in Warwickshire, and we knew she'd been disowned by her family for running away to marry a widower. We thought he was the widower she married in 1897, claiming to be a spinster.

I have now found on Familysearch the following:

Leah Swinbourne England, Warwickshire Parish Registers, 1538-1900
residence: 31 May 1896 —St Marks New Milverton
marriage: 31 May 1896 —St Paul, Leamington, Warwickshire, England
spouse: Joseph William Carter
record title: England, Warwickshire Parish Registers, 1538-1900
name: Joseph William Carter
event: Marriage
event date: 31 May 1896
event place: St Paul, Leamington, Warwickshire, England
gender: Male
marital status: Widowed
spouse: Leah Swinbourne
spouse's marital status: Single
digital folder number: 4292048

Does anyone live locally to the Warwick Country Record office and could look up this marriage for me please? If it is 'my' Leah, the father is James Swinbourne.

The marriage is not on FreeBMD.

Thanks for any help you can provide!!

Staffordshire / Handsworth St Mary marriages mid 1700's
« on: Monday 10 January 11 04:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hello everyone,
Does anyone know a source of these parish registers online or are they only available in the Birmingham Reference Library for this period? I am looking for the marriage of James Crumpton to an Ann, probably in the very late 1740's as their first child appears to have been born in 1750. Can't find this period covered anywhere, and Birmingham is 12000 miles from me!! Can anyone please help?
Thanks!
