Derry (Londonderry) / Mary Cummings Limavady Workhouse.
« on: Saturday 19 February 22 21:09 GMT (UK)  »

Hello,
It is a very long time since I posted , but I am looking for some help as to where I might find the Baptismal Register for Limavady Workhouse Chapel .

My ancestor Mary Cummings gave birth to a daughter also called Mary Cummings on 16th April 1885 in Limavady Workhouse.

The Civil Birth Certificate gives no address for Mary but does give her occupation as Domestic Servant.

Looking for further information on Mary Cummings, I contacted PRONI to see whether Mary Cummings was recorded in the Workhouse  Admissions & Discharge Registers or in the Hospital Chapel Baptismal Registers.

Unfortunately, PRONI does not have them for Limavady Workhouse.

Is there any other place that they may be located as this Mary Cummings is proving very elusive indeed and I would really love to know where she came from?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Derry (Londonderry) / Magilligan Presbyterian Church Records.1814-1880
« on: Friday 08 August 14 20:31 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if there are any kind Rootschat readers who are going to PRONI in the near future. I am looking for records of my ancestors The Cummings Family of Ballycarton, Limavady in the Magilligan Presbyterian Parish Registers. I have been in touch with PRONI for their records search service for people who dont live near Belfast & I received an email today from them their search fee is £15 per 15 minutes thus £60 per hour. Plus photocopying & verfication fees. Unfortunately my husband & I are OAP's & that sort of fee is too expensive.

If any one is going to PRONI & could have a quick look I would be very grateful ,I would pay for any photocopying & verfication fees & for postage. I live in CO.Wexford so have not a hope of ever getting there.

They owned our land in 1853 according to Griffiths Valuation. I would like to see their rent books to go  back a few more gererations. My husbands family have farmed this land since 1642.

Derry (Londonderry) / Searching for the McDermotts of Duncrun Limavady.
« on: Monday 28 March 11 22:01 BST (UK)  »
It is a while since my previous posts and thankyou to all those who answered them. This time I am looking for help tracing my ancestors the Mc Dermotts of Duncrun. The only information that I have for them is from my Great great grandparents marriage Certificate in 1871. When Elizabeth Mc Dermott from Duncrun Limavady married James Cummings fromBallycarton. in Belarena church. On the marriage certificate her fathers name is given as Charles Mc Dermott.  That is all I know.

I know absolutely nothing more and I am desperately trying to find out more about the Mc Dermotts of Duncrun.

If anyone has any information I would very much appreciate it.

Iam looking for information or help as to where I could go to trace where records of  my great great great Grandfather William Campbell'sbaptism may be. All I know from Derry City Cemetery Records is that William Campbell died in 1865 in Derry.  He was born in  Iskaheen,Muff  Co. Donegal in 1807. His fathers'name was Joseph Campbell.

Could any one tell me where I could research this further.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi There
Hope some one can help me.
My ancestors are buried in Ardcavan Cemetery which is 3 miles from Wexford Town.  I visited this cemetery recently and found it in a very neglected state. I was unable to gain access.  But can anyone tell me have the tombstone inscriptions been recorded or where can I go to obtain burial records for Ardcavan.

Any helpwould be greatly appreciated.
