Kincardineshire / Caird/Pyper/Davidson/Collie of Fetteresso
« on: Tuesday 02 June 09 08:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I am trying to identify the spouses of the children of my 4x great grandparents Alexander Davidson b. 1737 and Isabella Collie b. 1742. They were both born in Fetteresso. The children are Robert 1772, Elizabeth 1775, John 1777, Alexander 1779, Margaret 1781, Jane 1783, James 1785, Isobel 1787, Helen 1788 and Ann 1792.

So far I know that John married Ann Sinclair. And that Ann married John Caird. I think that Alexander married Elspet Stewart but I'm not 100% sure.  I think all the children were born in Durris.  The father Alexander's Davidson family originally came from Banchory Ternan.

I'd appreciate any help that anyone maybe able to give. Thanks.

Moray (Elginshire) / Elspet Adams and John Simpson
« on: Tuesday 12 May 09 06:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I'm hoping that someone may have some information on my 4 x great, grandparents John Simpson and Elspet Adams. I have found the death record for Elspet Adams and she died on 5th April 1845. The record said that she was 68 so she was probably born in 1777. She died in Elgin, Moray, Scotland and her husband John Simpson died sometime before 1841. I think she was born in Fordyce, Banff, Scotland. The death record says that John Simpson was from Elgin, Moray, Scotland so I presume he died there also. He may also have come from Fordyce but I dont know really. They had at least one daughter Jane born around 1805/6. I have found her christening record that says she was christened on 17 July 1809 in St. Nicholas Church, Aberdeen. The death record for Elspet Adams says that she is buried in the Cathedral Church Yard at Elgin, Moray. Their daughter Jane migrated to Australia with her husband Alexander Walker Davidson and their children.  Any information on Elspet Adams or John Simpson would be greatly appreciated.

Clare / John Collins/Winifred Hassett

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping that someone may have some information on my great, great grandparents John Collins and Winifred Hassett. John was born in 1802 and died in 1870. Winifred Hassett was born in 1807 and died in Cappanalaught, Clare on 3rd March 1875. My great grandmother Bridget Collins and her brother John (their children) travelled to Australia on the 'Sirocco' which arrived on 28th Jan 1864. Bridget was born in Six Mile Bridge in 1845 and was baptised on 23 Feb 1845 in the Parish of Cratloe. John was born in 1842. Other children of the marriage were Anne b. 1832, Patrick b. 1834 or 6, Mary Margaret b. 1836, Honora b. 1837, Catherine b. 1839, Michael b. 1842. Mary and Michael followed on later to Australia. Patrick remained in Ireland and died in Cappanalaught, Clare on 30 Jan 1908. I think they all came from Six Mile Bridge. I'm hopeful that someone may know the parents of Winifred and John or have other info on the family.

Thanks.

Cheryl
