Surrey Lookup Requests / Ellis/Covey marriage
« on: Wednesday 05 April 17 13:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi all

I'm looking to find the ages, addresses, parents and witnesses to the marriage of Alfred Ellis (b.1885-6) and Dorothy May Covey (b.1894 Sussex).
They were married around 19th October 1914 at Guildford register office.

Hoping by knowing Albert's father I'll be able to narrow down a birth for him.

Thank you in advance :)

Hannah

Sussex Lookup Requests / 1841 look up please
« on: Thursday 08 July 10 17:05 BST (UK)  »
Please could someone look up George URRY c.1811 in Horsham Sussex in the 1841 census.

I would like to know if he was born in county or not, as having trouble tracking down a baptism for him, unfortunately he died before 1851 so the 1841 is my only hope.

Many thanks,
Hannah

« on: Sunday 30 May 10 22:41 BST (UK)  »
If someone wouldn't mind having a look please.

I'm looking for George Constable (b.1850 - Horsham, Sussex) in the 1851 and 1861 census's. His parents are James (b.unknown) and Harriet Constable (b.1822).

I believe he would be in Horsham, Sussex in 1851 and possibly Steyning, Sussex in 1861.

Many thanks,
Hannah

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Help needed to date please
« on: Monday 10 May 10 20:22 BST (UK)  »
I recently found this image among those my grandmother has and she hoped I'd be able to try and find out who it is.

So far I've narrowed down the studio where it was taken - H. Aubrey, of 41 West St, Horsham, Sussex. He was photographer there between 1886 and 1894 when he died. So this photo must be between those dates, however I wondered if it's possible to narrow it down any futher?

I would be very grateful if someone could have a go at trying to date it.

Apologies for the huge image, I've not posted images on here before.

Thank you.

Australia / Death certificates
« on: Monday 10 August 09 14:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm hoping someone can answer a question.

I've just been talking with my grandmother, about her father's death certificate. She mentioned that on the certificate that her sister has just acquired, it states the names of three of his four children. The only one not mentioned is the sister that holds the certificate. They were wondering, as am I now, why only three of them would be mentioned on it.

They thought it might be because he had moved to Australia from the UK on his own and they didn't know about my grandmother's sister, as she is the youngest child.

Hopefully someone knows the answer.

Thanks in advance :)

World War One / Private Albert Dale - Fromelles
« on: Monday 25 May 09 20:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help with information on a relative who died at Fromelles in 1916.
His name was Albert Dale, he was born in 1895 in Rusper, Sussex and died 19/07/1916 in Fromelles, France.
He was in the 2nd/6th Battalion of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. His army number was 6066.
I believe his name is on the Loos Memorial.

I was recently reading an article in my local paper that my grandfather spotted.  As we have the name Dale in our family tree, he asked me to do some searching as to the family of this man. It turned out Albert Dale was the brother of my great grandfather.

I have emailed the address that was in the newspaper/on the Fromelles website, and am hoping to hear back soon.

Thanks in advance,
Hannah

I am interested in finding out as much as possible about Albert Dale and his regiment.
