Other Countries / Searching in Italy
« on: Tuesday 04 October 16 22:11 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to locate brother and sister, of Italian birth last heard of
in Rome in 1986. They would now be in their early 50s and might be married.
They had family origins in Casenatico, Emlia Romagna.
Parents Elmiro  and Mary Sumner.
Would appreciate any help and advice about searching in Italy.
Many thanks.

Cheshire / Atherton family of Birkenhead
« on: Thursday 12 November 15 17:39 GMT (UK)  »
William Edward Atherton and his wife were married in 1904/5 and together
had nine children.
One of their daughters, Edith, was born in 1916 and some stage (1948/9
was in Scotland training to become a chiropodist.
She is believed to have returned to Birkenhead, probably late 49 or early 1950,
and may well have set up business.
Can someone advise me whether there are any Kelly`s or electoral registers
available for this period. I have an address of 77,Mount Road, Birkenhead.
Grateful for any pointers.
Many thanks,
Ian

Armed Forces / National Service
« on: Wednesday 28 October 15 17:28 GMT (UK)  »
My late brother in law was called up around early 1945-1947 approx.
He was from Chilcompton, and sailed for India where, it appears he and
his colleagues joined up with the 1st Hong Kong Singapore Heavy Ack Ack,
and he appears to have spent a lotof time driving over India.

He travelled out on the Queen of Bermuda and home on HMS Windrush.
Can anyone tell me where I can search for National Service Records (if any)
and should there be any family members who had relatives connected I would
be pleased to have a chat.

Canada / Searching newspaper archives online
« on: Wednesday 28 October 15 11:00 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to locate a marriage in Ontario, probably Toronto, after 1928, and maybe
before 1940, but this latter date is only a guess.
Some years ago I did search The Toronto Times archives for some deaths, which
required a search fee, and would like to look into this again.
Unfortunately, probably due to lack of skill I cannot find the website.
Can someone point me in the right direction.
Many thanks,
Ian
