Can he be brought out of the fog?
He lived in Bridge Street, but where is this photo taken?
It looks like the gate to a church or chapel.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / What is this uniform?
« on: Tuesday 07 January 14 16:59 GMT (UK)  »
One of this family belonged to the Improved Order of Redmen in San Francisco, The Oddfellows and The Masons.
I don't see the square and compasses anywhere, so what is this uniform/

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Rocking chair England or California?
« on: Saturday 21 December 13 16:52 GMT (UK)  »
I am not sure if this is the father in Hull, England, or the son in San Francisco, California.
The father in Hull didn't live anywhere that had a garden.
I have never seen this style of English furniture.
Is the style of collar and tie a clue?
The Californian candidate was born in 1854.

FH Documents and Artefacts / Bracelet symbols
« on: Tuesday 20 August 13 14:48 BST (UK)  »
Is there any significance in the symbols on this bracelet?
Each one is similar but with variations, so they are not random squiggles.
The clasp is marked 925 silver, indicating British Sterling.

Occupation Interests / What the butler held.
« on: Wednesday 07 November 12 19:54 GMT (UK)  »
In 1871 Samuel DERBYSHIRE was a footman in Preston, Lancashire.
In 1877 he was a butler in Derby.
I believe the chain visible on his waistcoat signifies that as butler he held the keys to the house.
He appears to be holding a paper scroll.  Does this hold any significance to his occupation?

I have only inherited this scrap of what may have been a staff photograph.

My FH websites were developed using VISTA, MS Word and Notepad.
But I now have a Windows7 computer.

Saving a text file of a tree as ‘web page’ with Windows 7 Word messes up the layout, but it worked o.k. with VISTA.

Editing pages that I wrote in raw html code with Notepad is not possible now because Notepad no longer supports XML elements and cannot save edited html files

I have searched MS Help for VISTA/Windows7 compatibility and there is no reference to it.

Is there any solution?

Bob.
