Cumberland Lookup Requests / David Forsyth/Forsythe marriage look up please.
« on: Saturday 28 November 20 11:28 GMT (UK)  »
I appreciate this isn't the ideal time to be requesting look ups but in case anyone has access to anything that might help please...........
David Forsythe married Mary Ann Magnay on 23 July 1870 at St.James Church, Carlisle and I am desperate to know who the father of David was. I've found the father of Mary Ann from a newspaper but unfortunately it didn't give the father of David.
Many thanks.

Kent / Robert Shennan and Dorothy May Pearl Taylor
« on: Monday 05 February 18 10:52 GMT (UK)  »
Robert Shennan and Dorothy May Taylor were married in June 1943 in Bromley, Robert diied in 1998 in Canterbury and Dorothy died 1991 in Canterbury so I am assuming they lived all thier married lives in Kent. I am searching for descendants of this couple as there is a good chance some of them will still be alive. I am a relative and would just like to contact them to learn more of the family story.

US Lookup Requests / First Presbyterian Church of Kensington, Philadelphia

I have been trying to trace my gt.gt.gt.grandfather for more years than I care to mention....Solomon Leah, born 1802/3 in England and who vanished without trace after the 1841 census. Today I have been told of a marriage in the above church between a Solomon Leah and a Mary Reed which took place on 6 November 1843. I am in England and have no idea how much information is given in American marriage records but is anyone able to access the records for this church to see if any further details are given please? I have previously found a Solomon Leah mentioned in muster rolls for Pennsylvania in 1861 but have no idea of he is my Solomon, however if two records relating to the name place him in the same state then I am hopeful I may have found him.

I wonder if anyone can help me please? According to traces on the Internet there is a Spry headstone in this church but nowhere are details given as to what is on the headstone! The information given is that the stone is approximately 3 metres north west of the north transept. The dates on it are 1734 and 1745 and refer to members of the Spry family. Does anyone have access to the church who coulf check who these Spry members are please?

Devon Lookup Requests / Tavistock Registers - ARTHUR
« on: Wednesday 26 August 09 11:50 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to the baptismal registers for Tavistock please who could do me a look-up?
James Arthur married Jane/Jenny Pike in 1790. I have the following children for them....Jenny 1797, Richard 1800, William 1801, Jonathan 1803, Mary 1804 and Walter 1807.
As they married in 1790 there were, presumably children born between 1790 and 1797 and it may solve a few outstanding probems if I could find out who they were.
Grateful thanks to anyone who is able to help.

Has anyone got access to a readable copy of the 1841 census for Mary Tavy please? Everywhere I try on line it is an invisible page. The reference is
HO107/233/4 and the page number in the top right hand corner is 8. The family I am looking for is ARTHUR.
Hopefully I can find someone with X-ray eyes!

Cumberland / Carlisle+ 'blind Willy'
« on: Saturday 01 August 09 20:11 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone who knows Carlisle ever heard mention of someone called 'blind Willy' who supposedly used to play the organ in Carlisle Cathedral? This would presumably have been in the mid 1900's. He was possibly a Baxter. I've had this vague story from a relative and would like to find out just who he was.

Cheshire / GAWSWORTH
« on: Saturday 01 August 09 19:41 BST (UK)  »
Is anyone well up on Gawsworth history? An ancestor of mine is shown on the 1851 and 1861 census returns as living at Gawsworth Gardens. He farmed 145 acres and his will was quite extensive so he seemed quite well to do. I have been trying to track down just where Gawsworth Gardens was and the closest I could come to it from studying census returns was what is now known as The Garden House. I have spoken to the present residents of The Garden House but they say when they bought the place it was just two small cottages and they had never heard of Gawsworth Gardens, they thought the old name for where they were living was Apollo Gardens. However no trace of Apollo Gardens on census returns. Can anyone shed any light on Gawsworth Gardens please?
