Graveyards and Gravestones / Gravestones St Michael's Garston Lancs
« on: Tuesday 18 February 14 16:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there, Does anyone have these records or know where I can find them? I am researching the CARTER family, Thomas and Alice both born 1782, she died 1825 Garston Lancs, he possibly 1860-70ish. Their children were Henry b 1806 buried 1860 Garston Lancs, William born 1808, Thomas born 1810, Ann (Wainwright) born 1813 (as a Richardson my 3x great grandma), Margaret born 1815 died 1818 Garston, John born 1817. Some of these moved away but were then buried in Garston, I assume in St Michael's graveyard as they appear in the burial register there but I am looking for any hints about relationships that may help to confirm that I'm on the right track. Many thanks in advance, M

Lancashire / James RICHARDSON (Liverpool)
« on: Saturday 14 January 12 16:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there, My 3x great grandfather James RICHARDSON was a mariner who married Ann CARTER in 1835 in Liverpool. She was from Garston and I've traced a lot of her tree. James died between 1850 and 1855 when Ann remarries. James and Ann's children were;
1. Alice Carter Richardson b 1836
2. Anne Richardson b 1838 (my 2x g-grandma)
3. Eliza b 1841 Sparling Street, Liverpool  (Where Ann and the first two girls were in the census)
4. Margaret Carter Richardson b and d 1844
5. Mary b 1850
I have traced the children's marriages and their own children. However, because James is not at home in 1841 and I can't find the family in 1851, I know no more about him. Can anyone suggest a line of enquiry to discover who his parents were and where/when he was born?

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Where is Samuel Foster in 1851?
« on: Thursday 05 January 12 20:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there, My 2x great-grandfather was Samuel Foster born Whiston Lancashire 1837+/- 1yr. He is not at home in 1851 and I've searched all the variants I can think of such as Sam/Saml/Samiel etc and Foster/Forster/Fewster etc as well as entries with no surname, no first name or not born Whiston, and Wiston or just Lancashire.
He is living in Whiston in 1841, gets married in 1858 at St Thomas Eccleston and thereafter is on the 61,71 and 81. I have his m-cert and death cert.
Can anybody either find him in 1851 or suggest a way that I might search that I haven't yet thought of? Thanks.M

Hi there, I have the following in my partner's tree; John Abbot b 1791 and his wife Elizabeth Benson also 1791, married 1809 in Heversham. Their children; Margaret 1810 Crosthwaite and Lyth, Isabella 1811 Crosthwaite and Lyth, Elizabeth 1813 Crosthwaite and Lyth, Sarah and Mary 1816 Crosthwaite and Lyth, Ann 1819 Grayrigg, Agnes 1821 Grayrigg, John 1826 Beetham and finally Hannah 1830 Selside. The parents with John and Hannah seem to be at Undermillbeck in 1841. Has anyone any mention of these people in any records at their disposal? Thanks, Flower

Westmorland / Hannah Abbot b 1830
« on: Friday 19 August 11 18:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi there, I am researching the family of Hannah Abbot who married Thomas Kenyon in Rochdale in 1857. She says in the census that she was born 1830 in Grayrigg and I have found the baptism of a Hannah Abbot, daughter of John Abbot and Elizabeth Benson, christened in 1830 in Selside. There are also various siblings christened from 1810 onwards in Beetham, Crosthwaite and Lyth and Grayrigg and the parents' marriage in Heversham in 1809. Is anyone else researching this lot? I think I may have found a sister, Isabella as a house servant, unmarried and then her death in 1892 aged 81 but otherwise I can find no trace of the family after the 1841 census when Hannah is with her parents and brother John (b1826). Thanks, Flower

Hi there,
I am researching the following family and have found them in 1841, various marriages and baptisms and then 1861 onwards but cannot find them in 1851. Please could some kind soul help?
John Kenyon, gardener born 1790 Bury, his wife Mary born 1795 Unsworth/Hollins, their sons John b 1817 Bury cabinet maker, Thomas b 1822 Bury cabinet maker and Charles b 1835 Bury cotton or calico dyer.
They may be together or apart by this time. Thomas may be married to Ellen. I have a horrible feeling the records may be those famous water-damaged ones! Thanks for your interest, Flower

Lincolnshire / Matthew Frith born Boothby c1800
« on: Thursday 03 February 11 16:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there, I am researching a tree for a friend and have traced it back to Washingborough in Lincolnshire where a Matthew Frith, born 1800 Boothby (I assume Graffoe?) is married to Sarah Tayles (Tales). I have been given a baptism for Matthew, Boothby Graffoe 1798. I have found two Frith girls baptised in Boothby Graffoe, parents Matthew Frith and Ann, and several births and deaths in Navenby of the children of Matthew Frith and Ann (Cooling/Codling). The date of their marriage is 1791 in Wellingore and the baptisms begin 1792 and go on to 1806. So this looks a likely couple to be Matthew's parents but I have no proof. Can anyone help? There is also a marriage in 1810 in Navenby of Ann Frith widow to George Waller. Does anyone know of the death of Matthew Frith in Navenby or nearby between 1806 and 1810? Thanks, Flower
