London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / St Mary Abbot, Kensington
« on: Tuesday 16 August 11 09:48 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone advise if parish records of births prior to 1800 exist for St Mary Abbot, Kensington.

Julie HALGOULT was married in Pancras in 1823 - "of the Parish of St Mary Abbot, Kensington".
I would guess she was born between 1795 and 1805.
It is possible she was born in Kensington, (although she may have come from France or Switzerland! :-\)
Her husband Joseph Cherrin was born in Switzerland about 1795

Any advice would be appreciated
Peter

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Pancras Old Parish Church - Cherrin
« on: Monday 15 August 11 15:17 BST (UK)  »
I would be extremely grateful if any kind soul can find a marriage record for Joseph CHERRIN and Julie HALGOULT.
Pallots index shows they were married at PANCRAS, and I have a date of 30th January 1823.

I am hoping that the original record may provide a little more information, especially confirmation of the spelling of his name as "Cherrin"

Europe / SWISS 3xgreat-grandfather - CHERRIN
« on: Thursday 11 August 11 09:44 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone advise me of any online source for finding records from Switzerland - and/or any records of immigrants from Europe to England
My 3xgreat-grandfather was JOSEPH CHERRIN. I believe he was born about 1794/5 in Switzerland.
He married JULIE HALGOULT at St Pancras Old Church 30th January 1823, and died in Pancras workhouse 8 February 1852.
The 1851 census gives his age as 57, a confectioner, born in Switzerland

Surrey Lookup Requests / Wimbledon 1918/19 Electoral Roll
« on: Monday 08 August 11 10:40 BST (UK)  »
I would be extremely grateful if anyone can look up the electoral roll in Wimbledon for 1918/1919

My grandfather, Frederick Mark Davis and family were living at 3a Kohat Road, Wimbledon, from at least 1914 to at least 1933; I have a photo of my grandfather in army uniform, and am hoping that the electoral roll may indicate which regiment he was in.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / location please
« on: Thursday 04 August 11 10:30 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone pinpoint the location of this photograph - possibly Hastings, Sussex?

Judging by the boys ages (born 1904, 1906, and 1910) it probably dates from about 1918.

Kindly note that I do not wish for any form of restoration.

Surrey Lookup Requests / Wimbledon electoral register
« on: Saturday 16 July 11 09:33 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to Wimbledon Electoral register for about 1918?
I have a family who were living at 3a Kohat Road, Wimbledon between 1914 and 1933, and am trying to confirm the occupation of the head of household.

As I live in Inverness a personal visit to local archives is not practical so any help would be very much appreciated
