Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Cause of Death
« on: Wednesday 22 July 20 05:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Does anyone know what the cause of death is on this certificate? It looks like ‘suddenly falling dead off in chair’. Is this what it says and if so, what might it mean?
Thank you in anticipation.
Jan.

« on: Saturday 06 July 19 05:29 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Can anyone decipher the mother's name of Jane Mitchell on this Australian 1856 marriage certificate between Jane Mitchell and John Watson? The father's name is William Mitchell and I believe the mother's surname is Page but I can't work out her other two names!
Thank you in anticipation,
Jan.

Hi,
I'm hoping someone may be able to give an approximate date to these photos of my great grandparents, Thomas and Bridget CARMODY. Thomas was born in 1854 and Bridget in 1847.
They were married in Kerry, Ireland in 1876 and came out to Australia in the same year. They lived in Gisborne, Victoria, Australia until 1893 when they moved to Leongatha, Victoria, Australia.
I'm wondering if the photo may be their wedding photo from Ireland in 1876 before they came to Australia.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Cheers,
Jan.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Robert SWANN
« on: Monday 07 May 12 05:13 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for information about Robert SWANN, born Deighton, Yorkshire, England in 1840 and who came out to Australia in 1856. After marrying and living in the Howlong/Junee area of New South Wales, Australia, he appears to have moved to New Zealand after the death of his wife, Henrietta FROST, in 1876.
His parents were Thomas SWANN and Hannah WHITE who also lived in New Zealand at some stage. Hannah died in Wellington, New Zealand in 1879.
I would like any information about Robert SWANN and his time in New Zealand and details of his death if possible. Robert was a blacksmith and wheelwright.

Thank you in anticipation,
Jan.

I am looking for information on Jessie Ann Gover from Aberdeen, Scotland who went to London to work as a domestic servant in circa 1923.
She worked and lived at 72 Grosvenor Square, London and later trevelled to Australia aboard the 'Diogenes' in 1925.
I would like some information on the place she worked...72 Grosvenor Square, London or anything else about her time there.
Hoping someone can be of assistance.

Cheers,
Jan.

Australia / Robert SWANN, New South Wales
« on: Friday 06 January 12 04:54 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find information, in particular, the death date of Robert SWANN, (born 1840) son of Thomas SWANN and Hannah WHITE. He was born in Deighton, Yorkshire, England and came out to Australia with his family on the "Blundell" in 1856.
He married Henrietta Caroline Louisa FROST in S.A. in 1866. They had four daughter's, Matilda, Hannah, Louisa and Myra SWANN.
They lived in the Howlong and Junee areas of New South Wales, along with other family SWANN members. Robert was a wheelright and coach builder who applied for a patent in 1890.
His wife, Henrietta died in 1876.
I have never been able to find his death and hope someone can help...
Jan.
