New Zealand Completed Requests / On this day 146 years ago.......
« on: Tuesday 05 April 11 00:09 BST (UK)  »
.....a young man was accidentally drowned in the Panmure River while working for a local construction company building the timber bridge over the river.  According to a newspaper report at the time he was a quiet man, and was trying to retrieve timbers which had broken loose in a storm and drifted down stream.  Having bought the death certificate last week, I am soooooooooooo disappointed with the lack of additional information other than his name, date and place and cause of death, age sex & occupation.

His name was Martin Brown.  146 years later, I would dearly love to know if he is my g.g. grandfather.  His burial location is not recorded.  Family details are not recorded.  Would there be a police report that might identify more details about him....would such a thing exist.  According to the newspaper report an inquest was held but no details about family or relatives were mentioned.

Would appreciate any help as Im on the other side of the world....

Clare / McCoy
« on: Friday 19 November 10 23:18 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for information on McCoy/McKoy family who lived in Co. Clare in the 1860's and early 1870's.
John McCoy (1819)  married Ellen Monahan(?) circa 1860 - cant find location.  John was a Constable with the RIC for a total of 32 years before he retired and was stationed in Clare, and Sligo.   Ellen is listed as a widow on the 1901 census in Co. Sligo, and gives her birth county as Cork.

Many thanks
