World War One / Frank Brotherton 10th battalion East Yorkshire regiment
« on: Thursday 10 September 09 09:29 BST (UK)  »
my GG Uncle Frank died on 29 Sept 1918 and is buried at Underhill Farm Cemetary in Belgium - I have just been for a visit.
I am trying to find out all I can about him as I dont even have a picture! I have just bought Hull Pals and The Trench so think I should be able to trace his steps.
He married an Ethel Thirsk in 1914 who according to the 1911 census was living with Frank with 3 children, possibly his, as the youngest was called Frank B!
Any help with the military side of things much appreciated. Someone told me that Wenlock Barracks have records - is this right?
thank you all
Elaine

Family History Beginners Board / Brotherton/Thirsk

Hi
I am researching my gg uncle Frank Brotherton who died on 29 Sept 1918 in Flanders. He is buried in Underhill Farm Cemetary Belgium.(I have just recently visited). He was married to Ethel Thirsk of Hull. The 1911 census shows that there are 3 children with surname Thirsk; Walter, Hilda May and Frank B (they didnt marry until 1914) Are there any living relatives? Frank was in 10th battalion East Yorkshire Regiment and I am trying to track his army life.
If anyone has any thoughts please let me know.
Elaine
