Ayrshire / William Jamieson, Spirit Merchant, Kilbirnie Station
« on: Friday 28 July 23 15:40 BST (UK)  »
Hello

Does anyone have any more information on William Jamieson, spirit merchant, born Ireland around 1822.  The 1861 and 1871 census index shows Dalry, Ayrshire but the address details show Laigh Auchengree, Kilbirnie Station.

I am wanting to know the name of his parents and county of birth in Ireland.

Thanks

Armed Forces / Stranraer Army Pensioner

Hello

I am looking for more information on James Kelly, born around 1793 in Ireland.  He was living at Sun Street, Stranraer, Wigtownshire, Scotland on the 1841 census with wife Elizabeth and children James and Helen.

It is possibly him again on the 1851 census in Girvan, Ayrshire as a widower with Helen/Ellen having married James Dunn.

I have not been able to find a military record that is definitely him or a death record although he may have died before 1855 registration started.

Can anyone find any more information?

Thanks

Steve

Hello

I'm looking for a marriage for James Deeney/Denny/Daney to Frances/Fanny Magee/McGee/McGhee etc.  They were Catholic.

The first child of theirs that I know about was Bernard Deeney born 1840 in Liverpool.  There is no marriage under the Liverpool parish registers either RC or C of E.  It has not been registered anywhere either but may have been before 1837 registration started.

The 1841 census of Liverpool shows Frances as born outside of Lancashire but then Ireland on the 1851 census, then Warrington, Lancashire on the 1861 census.

A family tree on Ancestry suggests that her parents were Peter McGee and Jane Close who married in Distington, Cumberland C of E, had two children in Workington, then moved to Liverpool where their children were baptised RC.

Please can anyone could find the marriage record for James and Frances?

Thanks

Steve

Fermanagh / Clogh Church of Ireland early parish records, Co. Fermanagh/Monaghan
« on: Sunday 09 October 22 10:55 BST (UK)  »
Hello

From what I have found the first chapel at Clogh/Clough in Clones parish was built around 1730. PRONI have the microfilms of the parish registers back to 1811 plus some extracts going back to around 1795.

The Church of Ireland list of parish registers lost in the Dublin fire does not make any mention of parish registers dating back to 1730.  Anyone know if the Clogh parish registers for 1730 to 1811 survive anywhere?

Thanks

Hello

I am looking for a marriage record for Elizabeth Costello to John O'Dorsay, Dorsey or Darcey.  They lived in Jedburgh and were married between the 1851 and 1861 censuses. I can't find a marriage on Scotlands People.

Thanks

Northumberland / Hexham and Morpeth RC parish registers lookup, Costello
« on: Tuesday 03 October 17 19:23 BST (UK)  »
Hello

It is difficult for me to get to Woodhorn unfortunately.  Can anyone please lookup these RC baptisms for me? They are:-

1846, Catherine Costello/Costoly
1849, Anthony Costello/Costoly
1850, John Costello/Costoly

The parents were Anthony Costello and Mary Cunningham.  The first two births were registered under Hexham, the last one under Morpeth, although he was born in Kirkwhelpington so the baptism may be under Hexham.  All were registered in the April, May, June quarter.

I am interested in the sponsor/godparent names and any placenames or sidenotes.

Thank you

Steve

Louth / Dunleer R.C. parish registers
« on: Monday 06 June 16 18:28 BST (UK)  »
Hello

The digitised NLI microfilm records show the baptisms for Dunleer begin 1847.  The Rootsireland source list says they begin 1798.  The FindMyPast British civil service age of evidence records seem to confirm there are some baptism recorded for the 1830's and and early 1840's.

Can anyone please advise whether there are full baptism records for Dunleer for the 1810's, 1820's, 1830's and why they were not microfilmed?  The county centre were vague on the subject when I emailed them.  I have subscribed in the past and didn't find what I was looking for at the time (baptisms of Sullivan's, Sorahan's, Sullahan's in the 1820's and a decade either side).

There also seems to be a gap in the baptism records from 1825 onwards in a number of parishes in Louth.  Tallanstown and Kilsaran for example.  Does anyone know why this is?

Is there a list of R.C. parish registers that have not been filmed anywhere?

Thanks

Northumberland / Mount Pleasant, All Saints, Newcastle Upon Tyne query
« on: Monday 31 March 14 16:11 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I have some ancestors that lived in High Mount Pleasant, All Saints, Newcastle Upon Tyne in the 1850's.  I am trying to find out exactly where it was compared to the street names now.

Does anyone have an old map with it on and can describe exactly where it was?

Thank you.
