Aberdeenshire / Watson - Old Cairnbrogie, Tarves
« on: Saturday 05 September 09 18:16 BST (UK) »
Hi, I'm new to this forum but not new to family history. I've been tracing my family on and off for a few years now and have finally decided to commit the work to computer instead of pen a paper.
I've managed to go back to Charles Watson born 1737 in Tarves, Aberdeenshire and his wife Jean (Middler).
In between then and the present day I've traced a pretty good direct line with plenty of interesting sidelines to boot.
Came to a bit of a grinding halt with Charles, I know his father's name is Samuel Watson of Old Cairnbrogie, Tarves, (thanks to an old family bible and the chance meeting of an elderly, previously unknown distant relative I happened across while trudging through a snow covered Tarves Churchyard), and I have his siblings (including older brother Samuel) and one or two of their spouses.
I have a candidate in Samuel Watson born 1705 of Foveran which I found on Family Search dot org but can't make the connection.
Any tips or help would be much appreciated.
