Cambridgeshire / Thomas Cautley Newby Marriage

Hi,

I am trying to find a marriage record for Thomas Cautley Newby, 'scamp' of a publisher to Emily and Anne Bronte.

It is possible he was married to Ann Elizabeth nee Craig - the dates of birth of their several children indicate that the marriage may have taken place c.1820/21.

Thomas was brought up in Cambridge, but the marriage may have taken place elsewhere.

I have trawled Ancestry and IGI without success.

Hi Everyone,

I have been trying for some time to find out what happened to Ann Catherine Gamble b.1844 Wirksworth (known as Catherine). She was the eldest daughter of William Gamble and Ann nee Wragg.

The last mention in censuses is 1861, where she is recorded in Wirksworth aged 16 as a 'nurse'. I believe she may have died young but can find no death record which fits.

Any help would be most appreciated.

'Slight a.c.m.' and
'Some p.u.'

Hi Everyone,

Am searching for Lydia (or Lily) Cawser b.1893 Derby in the 1911 Census. Lydia married Abraham Cooper of Coleorton in 1914.

Lydia must be well hidden as am struggling to find her 1911 entry. Possibly a transposition issue on the surname?

Can anyone find her please?

Hi Everyone,

I have an interest in the Thorold family of Marston Hall/Syston Park and have come across Charles Edward Thorold Fane b.1822, the son of Rev Edward Fane and Maria Hodges. Does anyone know - were the Fanes of Fulbeck linked by marriage to the Thorolds, or was the use of Thorold in Charles Fane's Christian names simply an acknowledgement of another powerful local family?

Hi Everyone,

We have identified a family member who served with the British Army in India between (at least) 1846 and 1858. For part of this time he was stationed in Bombay and then in Secunderabad.

Which sources might be available to search for more details?
