Essex Completed Lookup Requests / 1891 Census Request Pretty Please
« on: Thursday 03 February 05 22:04 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find where James Saward was in 1891.
He was born in Runwell around 1857 and was married to Louisa.
I think he was living in Springfield in 1891 but would love to know his address, job and any family members.

Thanks

I recently visited the national archives find out more on an ancestor I thought might have died in world war one.
I checked the CD-rom of soldiers and officers who died in WW1 and he wasn't on it.

However, i forgot to ask is this definatively means he didn't die in WW1.

Anyone know how accuarte it is? what sort of percentage it accounts for?

Thanks

Suffolk Completed Lookup Requests / Ling/Clouting in 1861
« on: Saturday 29 January 05 09:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm trying to find the profession and residence of Alfred Ling (aged aprx 25 - born blaxhall) and his wife Martha (age aprx 20 - born Rendlesham) in 1861. I expect them to have been in Hacheston at this time.

If someone is kind enough to answer this i will add £2 to the tsunami jar where I work as a small token of thanks.
All the best
Nigel

Hi,

I'm trying to find the profession and residence in 1851 of William Clouting (born Rendlesham/Eyke in 1810 - wife Mary). I suspect they were still in Rendlesham at this time.

Any help greatly appreciated.
I'll put a couple of pounds in the tsunami relief jar as thanks if someone manages to answer this.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / First World War - which regiment?
« on: Wednesday 05 January 05 20:22 GMT (UK)  »
If someone was living in Snaith near Goole around 1913 and they went to fight in the First World War, would they have joined a particular regiment?

Anyone know the closest one to the area at the time?

Once I've found that out, where do I go from there? I can't seem to find a medal card for him on the National Archives web site.

His name was John Mellor Bower and he was born around 1888 in Mappleton, Derbyshire.

Thanks.

Essex Completed Lookup Requests / anyone heard of the forename THURPA?
« on: Monday 03 January 05 18:20 GMT (UK)  »
She's my ggg auntie - the daughter of James and Rebecca Edwards of West Mersea born in 1858.

All the other names of her siblings are your normal nineteenth century names - thought if i could  find something out about the name origin it might help me get more infor about her parents.

Thanks!

Essex Completed Lookup Requests / Edwards West Mersea 1851 or 1861 request
« on: Monday 03 January 05 17:53 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find out about my mysterious ggg granparents.

In 1871, James Edwards (b approx 1821 - west mersea) and wife Rebecca (b aprx 1824 - Colchester) lived on East Road, West Mersea. Their eldest daughter is called Thurpa (b. aprx 1858).

Would anybody be kind enough to find them in 1851 or 1861?

I'd love to know if they had any children prior to Thurza.

Thanks
