Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Touch up and Colour (football related)
« on: Friday 06 September 13 16:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone would be able to add some colour to the following photographs? THree of them are football related and so adding the colours of the teams would be helpful.

The first team photograph is Celtic FC and so the shirts would be green and white stripes with black shorts.

The second is Ardwick FC (Manchester City) and so tops would be pale blue and shorts would be white with blue socks.

The third team photo is Stoke and so the shirts would be black and red stripes with black shorts and socks.

Thanks to anyone who offers to help.

Lanarkshire / Photos of Carfin
« on: Monday 02 July 12 13:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I was working if any one knows where I could see some old photos of Carfin. I've seen books of Motherwell and Newarthill but missing out Carfin. I have a few from the RC church website in Carfin and some from a neighbour.

Is there a source with more? Would the Heritage centre in Motherwell hold any?

Hi,

Have been chatting with a Rootschat member who has found some census records. I'e seen them before but only just picked up on the "Woodneuk Lodge" reference.

What was this and where was it? The census record is for Cadder in Lanark.

Kerry / Looking for information
« on: Thursday 02 February 12 18:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Have been looking into my family tree for a few years and am stuck when we go back to Ireland. I wasn't sure for a while which county we are from, but have now found out if was most likely to be Co. Kerry.

And so, I was wondering whether any of you could help me out.

I have William Clifford b. 1837 (approx) in Ireland, father being Edward and mother either Sybil or Bridget (names listed differently on marriage and death of William).

I have found no siblings etc of William. I only have information of his children and so on. I cannot go any further until I find out more about him and his parents.

How can I find out any more about him?

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Birth/Baptism look-up
« on: Thursday 02 February 12 18:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I am stuck with my tree and need a bit of help.

If anyone has access to birth/baptismal records for Erdington could you please have a look for something for me please?

I am looking for James Simmons b. 1830 approx, some records indicating 1826. Mother is Sarah and father John. Not having any luck finding his mother/father before so mother's maiden name may help and records might give a bit more info.

Thanks.

« on: Tuesday 24 January 12 17:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have found a relative who died in WW1, 1915. I have viewed this record on ancestry.co.uk.
He was in the Corps of Royal Engineers.

How could I find out more about how he died?
And was does SPR mean?

Thanks

Lanarkshire / Glasgow Herald
« on: Thursday 18 August 11 18:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I've been looking though the Glasgow Herald archives in google in the hope of maybe finding something about my gt gt grandfather's death. His death was reported locally but not sure about nationally. I have been told to look in national paper like the Herald because he was a footballer which was mentioned in the articles in local papers - which may have meant his death was reported more widely.
Anyway, he died on the 3rd October 1929 but I can't find the edition of Herald for 4 October on google - is there anywhere else I can look for it? I'm assuming if there was anything about his death it would be reported the day afterwards?

Lanarkshire / Old Monkland Poorhouse/Mitchell Library
« on: Thursday 02 June 11 20:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I've recently come across an ancestor who would appear to have died in Old Monkland Poorhouse. I am intending to go to the Mitchell Library to have a look through the poorhouse records but is it worth the while? What information can you get from poorhouse records?

Thanks
