Would like to know what happened to this Emily Barrett.  My great grandmothers sister was Emily Augusta Barrett b.1889/1890 Gloucestershire, England.  She was a servant and had left for London after 1911 to work but no-one heard from her since so would love to find out before my great aunt passes away (she is the last of this generation left and would love to know what happened to her mum's sister!).

Emily Barrett is aged 24 on the passenger list departed London 6 Aug 1915 bound for Wellington.

Are there any other records for these passengers upon their arrival?  Any help or thoughts on this will be much appreciated!

Northumberland / Best way to find children dead before 1911
« on: Sunday 18 March 12 22:18 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there, I have found my 3xG Grandparents Thomas Stephenson aged 79 and Sarah aged 76 on the 1911 census and it states that they had 11 children, 5 living and 6 dead.  Up till I found this I was only aware of there being 6 children - Sara Ann b. abt 1860, Isabella b. abt 1867, Greewell Jewitt b. 1870, John b. abt 1873, Margaret Ann b. 19 Nov 1876 (my 2xG Grandmother) and Charlton b. abt. 1877.  Greenwell died in 1905 so he is the one of the six showing as already dead by 1911.  My question is - what is the best way to go about finding the other 5 children I didnt know about? They dont appear on any census so this doesnt help!

Any advice greatly appreciated - Jo x

Lanarkshire / 1901 Census Lookup Please - Millar
« on: Monday 06 February 12 10:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi , could someone please do a lookup for Andrew Millar b. abt 1882.  I know he's on the census in Lanarkshire as I found him on Ancestry, although Ancestry are not allowed to show an image of the census.  I am interested in confirmation on what was given as his middle name.

Thanks :)

London and Middlesex / Caroline Matthews b. 1830-1835
« on: Thursday 09 June 11 14:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I have Caroline b. Westminster with her husband John Barrett on the 1861 census through to the 1911 census in Gloucestershire.  They married in 25 Dec 1854 in St. Mary De Lode, Gloucester, and marriage cert states her father as William Henry Matthews a Government Clerk.

I beleive I have her on the 1851 census in Gloucestershire again aged 2 (transcription error, there is an ink blob on original page but can clearly be read as aged 21)  down as the grand-daur of Elizabeth Smith.  Not currently able to connect Caroline to Elizabeth.

There is a William Hy Matthews with wife Elizabeth (and her sister Ann Peak) on the 1851 at 44 Seymour Street, St. Pancras.  His occupation is described as a registrar of Marriages for the parish of St. Pancras and Births and Deaths in the district of Summers Town.

Again he is with his wife in 1841 at the same address as in 1851 but I havent found Caroline anywhere in 1841.  Perhaps one of you can help?

Thanks
Jo

London and Middlesex / James/Elen Williams
« on: Wednesday 06 April 11 11:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am related to Elen Williams (nee Williams) who is on the 1881 census at 44 Kilburn Lane, London with her husband James who was a Blacksmith,  Both orignate from Gloucestershire. Their daughter Ann was b. Gloucestershire abt. 1875 and their daughter Minnie was born Kensal Green abt. 1879.  They are on the 1891 census in Chelsea, with Ann (now Annie) as a 15yr old Dressmakers Apprentice, Minnie now a 12yr old scholar said to have been b. Chelsea and a son Albert a 4yr old scholar b. Chelsea.  In 1901 they are in Paddington with Minnie a 22yr old Laundress Wash said to b. Queens Park and Albert a 14yr old P? said to have been b. Queens Park.

There is an 8 year age gap between Minnie and Albert - does anyone know if they had other children? That perhaps died inbetween censuses?  Can anyone advise me how significant the difference in p.o.b given for Minnie and Albert might be to enable me to link to any possible marriages or deaths?
