Trying to trace a possible female relative born in Almelo, Holland during the WW2 likely between 1942 and 1943.  Anyone any idea where I should start looking?  I have a working knowledge of the language so should be able to cope.

Northumberland / Spring Bank Road, Jesmond
« on: Friday 19 August 05 15:53 BST (UK)  »
On a recent archaeological trip to Hadrian's Wall, I took a little time out to photograph houses where my family were known to have lived.  Unfortunately, my elderly Mother failed to inform me of the house into which my Grandfather moved as a newly married man.  She only told me on the day I got home!  It was 28 Spring Bank Road, Jesmond and they moved there in October 1911.  You are all such a kind-hearted and helpful lot on RootsChat and I was wondering if there was an obliging Geordie living in Jesmond who could send me an e-photo of Number 28 as I will not be able to go to the North East in the forseeable future?  I would be so grateful.

Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / Woods of Stillington, N. Yorks.
« on: Saturday 25 June 05 16:44 BST (UK)  »
I am researching the Woods of Stillington, N. Yorks.  I have the 1881 census but would appreciate earlier and later information.  They were builders in this village and also had an ale house at one stage.  They lived on the Green in a house imaginatively called 'Woodville'!.  I would also like to trace any ancestors of Mary Wood (nee Gibson) who was born in Marton Lordship, N. Yorks.  I have so far failed to trace her parents.  My eventual aim is to trace living relatives and would therefore like to trace descendants of Thomas Wood (born 1872). Richard Christopher Wood (born 1874), William Gibson Wood (born 1878) Lillian M. Wood (born 1882), Ernest D. Wood (born 1884) and Leonard Wood (born 1890).  Any information would be gratefully received.

Northumberland / Thomas Gibson Martin
« on: Saturday 15 January 05 18:48 GMT (UK)  »
Thomas Gibson Martin, born in 1866, was living with his grandfather at the time of the 1881 census in Newcastle.  He was an apprentice coppersmith and his mother was an Usher.  Are there any Martins out there who are connected to him?  He was born Thomas Gibson Usher but appears to have changed his name when living with the Martins.  I wonder if they adopted him.

Northumberland / Ushers of Newcastle.
« on: Tuesday 11 January 05 15:11 GMT (UK)  »
I am reasearching Ushers who were members of the Company of Cordwainers of Newcastle upon Tyne.  I have traced one side of the family but drawn a blank with the other.  My aim is to trace living relatives but I am enjoying the historical aspects of the search.  I am looking for descendents of Albert, 1862-1897 and his brother Henry Foreman, 1864-1894.  They were sons of John, 1830-1876 and he had a brother William, 1833-1870.  They were sons of John 1805-? and he was the son of Thomas Usher 1782-? and Alice Pearson.  They were my great, great, great, great, grandparents.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
