Tyrone / Bernard Murray b. 1875 Omagh
« on: Sunday 01 October 23 19:05 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

I am searching for the birth record or any confirmation of the birth of Bernard Murray, in his naval records he states he was born on 18th February 1875 in Omagh County Tyrone and joined the Royal Navy in 1894, at the time of the 1901 Census he is aboard ship in Devonport

On his marriage certificate, from 1902, Greenock Scotland he states his father as Michael Murray, Railway Porter and his mother as Elizabeth Morrison.

The trouble is I can not confirm any birth record for him or any details on his parents other than those recorded in his marriage record

Any help appreciated

Joe

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Opinion on signature
« on: Sunday 26 June 22 15:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi all

I have a copy of a church vestry record from 1826, I am interested in the signatures, on whether or not they are individually signed or whether the secretary (or whoever was writing the minutes) filled them in, the reason I am interested as one of these gentlemen is my 5X Grandfather.

Donegal / Marriage announcement in Local Press 1800s
« on: Thursday 17 December 20 09:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all,

This is maybe more a general question  I am looking for anyone's opinion  on who would have a marriage announcement in the local papers, the reason I ask is that my 2X Grandfather and Grandmothers marriage was reported in the Londonderry Sentinel in 1857, as far as I am aware they were fairly poor tenant farmers  living more than 20 miles from the city and it has always puzzled me how or why the marriage was in the paper.

"On the 2nd inst., in the Presbyterian Church Moville, by the Rev A. Clements, Mr. Robert M'Corkell to Miss Jane Williams, Ballyrattan."

Were announcements of this nature more common than I think? Any thoughts I would be grateful to hear.

Hello all,
This is a photo of my Grandmother and some of her siblings on her fathers cart, early 1920's I think, I realise the source image is poor and a little out of focus so unsure if it can be improved, the original photo was very small. My grandmother was the last of the siblings to survive , living to 102!

Thanks for looking

Donegal / Mary Burnside, Parish of Muff, County Donegal
« on: Monday 03 April 17 19:55 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Wondering if someone can do me a look up for a birth record for  Mary Burnside, Born (I think) in the parish of Muff, Donegal in 1837, her father on her marriage record was John Burnside, she would have been CoI, I believe.

I think the parish records for the church date back to 1837 so I'm hoping I'm in luck!

Regards

Canada / Londors, Ontario

Hi

I am attempting to help a friend who's grandmother was adopted, the only information she has is that her grandmother was born in Toronto, grandmother's birth mothers name was Janet Londors and her Great grandmother's  name was Kathlean Avena Londors.

The only record I can find that looks like the Great Grandmother is the marriage of a Janet Cathlean Avena Londors in 1920, aged 24, her parents being Herbert William Londors and Elizabeth Watson.
born in England

https://familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3Ajanet~%20%2Bsurname%3Alondors~

I dont see any other information anywhere on this and was thinking perhaps the name has been changed or mistranscribed ?
