Dublin / Churches near Montague Street Dublin
« on: Saturday 18 June 11 11:56 BST (UK)  »
I have the death for my Great grandfather (Jamed KEOGH) in 1864. The address for his residence is 4 Montague Street  District of No 3 South Dublin.

I am trying to work out what Church the family would have attended. I believe they might have been Roman Catholic.

If anyone can give me any ideas of the nearest Church to Montague Street around 1864, that would be great. I'm hoping to be able to get Baptisms for his children etc. I'm not having a great deal of success. :(

Thanks for any help :)

Lancashire / Coroner's report or newspaper article
« on: Tuesday 04 January 11 08:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Hoping someone can help with this. ;D

I'm helping my neighbour with her research. I downloaded 1911 census for a Thomas STARNES aged 38 and his family who were living in Heywood.

I found a death on FreeBMD for a Thomas STARNES Sept q 1915 in Bury aged 42.  Must add here that my neighbour had a date of death as 1897 but couldn't remember where this information came from......so we're hoping that date was wrong and we have the correct family now. ;)

Apparently Thomas died when he was hit by a train. Trying to find out where to look for Coroner's report or any newspaper articles.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Lois

I'm attaching a bit of 1841 census. Could you please tell me the name of the first entry. Head aged 40. The surname is SPELLER.

I left the other names on so you could compare.
On the index it is "Uriah" :-\

Appreciate your help.

Thanks

Lois :)

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Clean, lighten and colour please

Just came across this photo I had scanned some time back.

Could it be cleaned and lightened a little so I can see Grandpa's face. Would love a colour also. :)

I would appreciate if someone could also extract my Mother (on left) so I can also have her by herself. ;)

Uncle George doesn't look happy having his photo taken ;D

As always, appreciate everyone's efforts.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Clean up and sepia and B & W if possible
« on: Saturday 04 December 10 07:35 GMT (UK)  »
I know you like the photos be be scanned in colour, but I didn't do so with this one. I was trying to print it out B & W  then noticed how many marks were on it. If it is a problem I can try and rescan it in colour.

I would appreciate if someone would clean this photo and do a sepia and B & W of this photo. A friend wants a B & W copy. :)

I'm pretty sure this is a coach that my parents were on for their honeymoon. They travelled down the sw of Western Australia. I think the writing says Bailingup. I presume the white star on the door is a brand name or something similar.

Thanks.....just love the santa hats ;D ;D

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Date photo and estimate ages please

I believe this photo was taken at Dumfries.

The man was born c1860. I was told he is wearing a typical outfit for his work, which was foreman, carter for the railways. He worked with the horses (from what I have been told).

I am trying to work out if it is his wife and son with him. The boy would have been born in 1901. Just wondering if this would fit with the date of the photo.

Thanks for your help.

I know this will be hard as it looks like parts are missing, but here's hoping :)
I would really love to see this coloured, as I believe he's in his own garden.

I'll do another post so you can get an idea of his beard. In this one it looks like he has a full beard, but doesn't really.

Thanks

Lois
