London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Help locating inquest report.
« on: Sunday 29 June 08 13:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
I have a death certificate for Edward Adolpho. It reads.

Reg Dist. Marylebone.  Sub Dist. Cavendish Square.

Found dead, Second September 1854,138 Oxford St.
Male, 34 years.
Porter.
Suicide by hanging. Mind unsound. Inquest.
When registered. 24th November 1854.

I have checked the Times online, and London gazette with no luck.
Any idea where I might find a copy of this coroner's report, as I would like to know, if any next of kin are mentioned.

The Common Room / Help Please with Ancestry.
« on: Wednesday 13 February 08 20:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
I have been trying to access Edward Adolpho, in the British Army WW1 Service Records, not to be confused with British Army WW1 Pensions.

It states that there are 9 images, but I can only view the 1st page. none of the buttoms on the toolbar work, although they work when viewing census, and BMD index pages.
I reported the problem to Ancestry, and was told to remove the image viewer, then download and install it again.  This I did, but the problem remains.

Could someone please check to see if they can access all the images for Edward Adolpho, before I go back to Ancestry, with guns blazing.

Many thanks,
Cissellby.

The Lighter Side / Ancestry Marriage Index.1837-1983.
« on: Wednesday 23 January 08 20:19 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
There doesn't appear to be any marriages on Ancestry, for 1925,DQ. I was looking for Hopcroft, all quarters came up, except December.  I then tried surnames either side of Hopcroft, no DQ.
I emailed Ancestry. a reply came back, all working fine.

Today, I started going through the alphabet, lots of Jones, Smith's, White's, but none married in December 1925.

Always best to check other sources, Ancestry have been known to get it wrong from time to time.

World War One / Thomas James Hopcroft.
« on: Wednesday 31 October 07 21:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
I think I may have found the medal card for my Granddad, it reads:

Hopcroft Thomas J.
Corps. The Queens Regiment.
Regiment no. 17606. Private.
Labour Corps. no. 55404. Private.

Would there be any records, as to where this Thomas was born/lived, and next of kin.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sligo / Nora Attracta Mannion.
« on: Sunday 21 October 07 13:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,
My cousin is trying to find information on Nora. In 1942, Nora married John Hopcroft in Paddington, London.  On her marriage certificate, it states her age as 20 years, and father as Philip, a carpenter.

Nora was born in Ireland, a possible address is no1 Sligo Rd, Tubbercurry, although not sure if she was born there.

Possible siblings are. John, Philip, Michael, Thomas, and Oliver.

I have posted this in the general board, as I can't see Tubbercury listed in the child board.

Any info on Nora, or her family would be much appreciated, as my cousin has hit a brickwall.
Regards, cissellby.

Hi,

How would I find the next of kin, as it is possible that John is my great uncle.

Many thanks,

Hi,
I am trying to find Mary Ann Hopcroft/Hopcraft, Mary was born in 1846, Marylebone.
Her mother, brother and sister are living in Kensington in 1861, but no Mary.
In 1863, Mary is back home and married to John Stephens.

Any help would be most appreciated.
