Fife / Headstone - Carnbee
« on: Sunday 18 October 15 16:08 BST (UK)  »
Wonder if anyone can help me out as I can't see me getting back to "The Kingdom" for a few weeks...

My GGGG Grandfather was Thomas ROBERSTON, b.1792.

He died as a result of injuries sustained when involved in an accident with a Threshing Machine on his farm at Knights Ward, Carnbee in 1873. He was 80 years old when this occurred.

I'm assuming he was buried at Carnbee, rather than Abdie where he was born...

Anyone with MI's for the area, or available for a quick visit...?

Dougie.

Fermanagh / Margaret Ann Cadden
« on: Saturday 12 September 15 18:59 BST (UK)  »
Hoping someone can assist in helping me with info. on the above person, my Great Great Grandmother.

She was born, possibly in Fermanagh, in 1881 or thereabouts to Thomas Cadden and Isabella Morrison. (Married 2 July 1880 in Drumcor, Enniskillen)

In 1904 she gave birth to Charlotte Cadden at Irvinestown, and then in 1906 to Margaret Cadden at Trillick - both to different fathers.

The next record I have of her is her marriage in 1920 in Fife, Scotland. Both her daughters above moved over with her, as did her father latterly along with some siblings.

Anything available of her earlier years in Ireland would be greatly appreciated...

Fife / Orange Lodge in Levenmouth...???
« on: Thursday 10 September 15 18:33 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I have a couple of questions...

I am reliably advised that my Great Grandmother (Margaret Ann Cadden or Leggett), who came from Ireland, was a staunch member of the Orange Lodge. She died in 1937 in Leven and was apparently given an Orange send off.

I am also "reliably" advised that the attached photo is of her funeral...

Question 1: Was there ever an Orange Lodge in Levenmouth (I can only recall there being a Masonic one).

Question 2: Does the attached photo show an Orange Lodge procession, or a Masonic one...???

Fife / Old Parish Registers

Hi,

Just downloaded what I thought was an entry relating to a marriage from Scotland's People, date 1792 from Auchtermuchty...

However...

The entry I was looking for reads:

The Sixteenth Mortified by Ebenzer Annan £1 07 shillings.

Surely this refers to the purchase of a "Mortcloth"...???

Clackmannanshire / Street Query - Dollar
« on: Wednesday 01 July 15 05:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi folks,

I've come across a death cert for my GGG Grandmother who died in Dollar in 1888.

The cert. shows her passing away in a street which looks like "Ballarat Place, Dollar". However, I can find no record of this place existing...

Can anyone help...?

Also, in the 1881 Census she is listed as residing in a house named Burmah, Dollar (where she is a Housekeeper). Again, any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi folks...

Can anyone assist with clues to the burial place of my Great Grandmother, Margaret Gray who died in Hospital Street, Dundee on 22/10/1944.

She was the husband of Charles Gray, who died in Mains Loan, Dundee on 05/08/1934.

Any help would be appreciated as I would like to visit the gravesite.

Scotland / OPR Death Query
« on: Thursday 05 January 12 18:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have discovered that my Gt (x 4) Grandfather has two entries on the OPR's for Largo in relation to his death and burial.

Both refer to the same date, 24 November 1828, but each has differing GROS numbers:

GROS 443/00 0252 (Largo) &
GROS 443/00 0040 0168 (Largo)

One mentions the plot in which he was buried, the other refers to the purchase of a 2nd M.C (Mort Cloth...?).

Can anyone assist me in explaining why this has happened?

Why would the church have two entries for the same burial, on different pages, but relating to the same date?

Fife / George Gilchrist, Largo.
« on: Monday 02 January 12 16:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Happy New Year to everyone....

Looking for information on gravestones at Largo in respect of:

George Gilchrist and his wife, Christian Honeyman.

Christian died on 25 March 1855 in Wormwell, Largo. According to her death certificate she is buried in "The graveyard of Largo".

I'm hoping she is buried alongside her husband, who died before her (date unknown), and that a stone is still in place.

Does anyone have records/knowledge of this graveyard...?

Dougie.
