Isle of Man Lookup Requests / Adoption to Isle of Man Family in 1964
« on: Tuesday 31 March 15 09:58 BST (UK)  »
I'm helping a friend search for his brother who was adopted. He was born in Liverpool on the 24th July 1964 and adopted to a family who we are sure lived on the Isle of Man. His name on his birth certificate was Paul M W. He may or may not still use his given names. He may or may not still live on the island.

Paul's birth certificate states that he was adopted, with a side note saying;  "Isle of Man"

If you think you might know Paul, or you are Paul, then I would love to hear from you.

If Paul is reading this message, it might help you to know that you were once part of a set of three brothers who were all adopted. I am helping one of your two older brothers to unite you all.

Please send me a private message if you have any information.

Thank you

For many years I've been using family history websites, such as Roots Chat to search for details of a father who I never knew; who had been cloaked in a veil of mystery for close to 60-years. I've posted countless messages using an assortment of 'usernames' in search of any information about my late father, his family & my very mysterious roots. He was only an ink blot on my birth certificate & I thought I didn't stand a cat in hells chance of finding him & my dear mum took her secret love to her grave.

One letter; found amongst my mum's personal effects after her death in 1989 gave me a clue & that clue instigated my search.  It's been a fascinating journey that has left me wondering if there is some memory locked away hidden deep within our DNA, because instead of finding the family scandal that I had expected, I found a heart-warming story that has turned my mum into my hero.

As for my roots, well, they seemed to have been buried deep within my subconscious all along & when eventually discovered, they made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

Over 20-years of searching followed by 4-years of writing & rewriting has resulted in this. . .

The Daddy of ALL Mysteries   by   Jess Welsby.

I have compiled 110,000 word & over 70 photographs to tell the true story about a very ordinary Liverpool family.  It is not a sad story by any means. Packed full of comical anecdotes that can only happen in Liverpool, it follows my unmarried mum & her small, Catholic family through the Great War, the Great Depression & the Second World War. It's about all the struggles, fears, laughter & tears of a generation now dead & gone.

My book is also a great example of what can be achieved with todays technology & help from members of forums such as Roots Chat & people who have never clapped eyes on each other.

This book will be of interest to anyone who didn't know their parents or to people with roots, not only in Liverpool but also in Ireland & any refugees or immigrants to the UK.

I hope it will inspire others to search for their mystery mother or father.

Canada / GOSS Family Canada - Originally From Liverpool
« on: Saturday 21 February 15 18:42 GMT (UK)  »
I'm tracing the GOSS family who emigrated to Canada from Liverpool. Circa 1950s-1960s.
John GOSS worked at Lucas, Edge Lane Liverpool. I do not know where in Canada they settle. However, shortly after they arrived in Canada, John GOSS & his wife were killed in a car crash. His young children stayed in Canada & were raised by relatives.

I know that this is a long-shot, but I would be grateful for any information about this family.

Thanks you

Dublin / Dublin Family of Jewellers named HARRIS
« on: Saturday 14 July 12 16:11 BST (UK)  »
I've decided to start a new topic with this HARRIS family as I am sure there must be some descendants still in Dublin or Ireland or maybe in the Orpington area of Kent.

Abraham aka Albert J. HARRIS was born in South Wales about 1877, the son of Simon HARRIS & Maria BLOOM.  Abraham, who was a Jeweller, married...
Ellen aka Eleanor aka Nellie FREEMAN, the daughter of Philip FREEMAN & Sarah LEVY, who was born in Dublin about 1885.

Abraham & Eleanor HARRIS are listed on the 1911 Dublin census living next door to Philip & Sarah FREEMAN at 39.2 South Circular Road, Dublin with daughters; Simona HARRIS aged 5 & Esther HARRIS aged 2.

By 1917, they may have moved to Green, Orpington Kent. Abraham was also known as Albert J. HARRIS by this time.

I have important letters to hand over to this family & would be grateful for any tiny bit of information that would help to trace any descendants.

Thank you

Cheshire / BERG family Manchester
« on: Monday 06 February 12 22:23 GMT (UK)  »
This has been breakthrough week for me!

Does anyone have a link to Charlie BERG who married Evelyn FREEMAN in Liverpool in 1914. Charlie was a cabinet maker from Russia, likely Lithuania.  Evelyn was born in Dublin, the daughter of Sarah LEVY & Philip FRIEDMAN/FREEDMAN/FREEMAN. Their marriage is listed under the name BERG, but it was possibly something ending in BERG. This family possibly moved to Manchester in late 1920s.

They possibly lived at;  Smithdown Place, Liverpool;  circa 1915.

I have 100 year-old letters to pass onto any descendants of Philip & Sarah FREEMAN.  Descendants could be the names of RUSSELL, BERG, HARRIS.

Also researching:
RUSSELL, Belfast.
FRIEDMAN & variations in Dublin, Liverpool, Leeds & Sveksna, Kovno area.
HARRIS & ZOROCHOVICH, Dublin, South Wales & Karklenai, Lithuania.
LEVY Dublin & Liverpool.
BERG Liverpool & Manchester.
YANKELOVITCH Manchester, Liverpool.
COHEN... everywhere!
