Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Dating photo please
« on: Sunday 06 March 16 04:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
This photo has my Great Grandfather (elderly gent) on left, his son on the right and has been used as a photo for the father of the woman in the middle. People have seen a cropped version of him and assumed it is correct. The father of my gt Aunt died 1923. My Gt Grandfather died 1944.

Can someone please date the photo please, my mum wrote "Gran Dad" on the back of the original (uncropped one)attached.

Regards,
Denise

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Dating please for mother and child
« on: Saturday 03 October 15 05:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
this photo of woman and child, presumably the mother, has been scanned for me and we are hoping it is a shared relative.

Would be very grateful if it could be dated please.

Hi,
Here is my Gt Uncle Albert Russell Bloomfield, WW1 soldier AIF. He was injured in France whilst assigned to 2nd machine gun company serving in the trench mortar bay but later returned home safely.

I would love to see it cleaned up, he was 18 when he enlisted 15/9/15 and needed his father's written permission to sign up.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi, this is a very old image and I'd like to know if it is an early carte de visite or other thoughts.
It is on plain white card stock, the beige image is one piece there is no insert/frame etc and no details of any photographer. In fact there is no writing on it and if there ever was it was light and did not leave an impression.

Hoping it is not too hard for someone to be able to date from the clothing style? Is it an early carte de visite or other thoughts?

thanks in anticipation,
Denise

Hi,
I have another unknown here and have some thoughts on who he might be. What I would really like to know from experts on clothing etc is to try and date this one. The back again is plain. Photographer appears to be Foot & Erdmann, in Trove there is an ad for 22 Aug 1884 Mercury Newspaper for a best boy but if there any further clues about this studio and age of subject, date of clothing style it could help confirm him. Photo also could do with a good clean up if there is anyone who would like to have a go at restoring this handsome fellow!
Thank you..

Hi,

Here is another photo that I'm sure has some clues from the clothing especially of this gentleman. From a family album that has photos from late 1840s to early 1900s. The scan of the back hopefully contains enough info to help and it is a bit faded unfortunately. Any clues would be great in hopefully being able to place him in the family.

Hi,
here is a lovely lady that I would like to learn more about from the experts which might help me confirm her in my tree. The back of the card is completely blank, no stamps, nothing but it is clearly Alba Studios as shown on the front and as you can see a part of the frame is missing.

I am hoping to obtain information to date the picture and the person and any other relevant information. This person may well be my great grandmother so here's hoping...

Thanks in anticipation,
Denise

Hi,

This one has long puzzled me. I would love to know the date on this and the children did well to sit for the photo I think! A clean up would be lovely as well, if anyone can assist.

Thank you, I am lucky to have such lovely photos in an old album, just wish I knew who they all are!

Hi,
This couples photograph is in a very old family album, I am very interested in the dating and what opinion is about possible ages of the subjects which could help me place them correctly in the family. I will post separately the back of the photo to help. The family album is a mix of some relatives from UK and some from their next generation in New Norfolk, Tasmania.

Thank you in advance.
