Dorset Lookup Requests / Elizabeth WOODROW/AYLES/CUTLER in 1861 - whereabouts?
« on: Saturday 10 February 07 17:25 GMT (UK) »
Elizabeth nee AYLES (later WOODROW, her father) later CUTLER (step-father) bp in Hurn, Ringwood, on 25th May 1835 married my ggrandfather Edwin LANE on 23rd August 1864 in Ringwood.
Can anyone find here in the 1861 census please? I'd like to know what she was doing, and which surname she was using then!
She was born the illegitimate daughter of Mary AYLES, but two years later Mary married Edward WOODROW. Poor old Edward died two years later, and by 1851 Mary had married Thomas CUTLER. However, on her marriage certificate she gives WOODROW as her surname.
Any information about Elizabeth "I choose my own surname" gratefully received!
