Hi John,
All i have for this period is Edward c1878 married a Isabella Stockdale. One census had a Ashworth c1880, was that actually Richard. My memory (75 years old) tell me there was a Lily at Hetton le hole. I`m Luton, previously Easington Lane. I have other p/work somewhere, what sort of things do you need.

Hi All,
Nice to see you are all still at it. I have 7 children of Ambroses from Ann 1755 to Catherine 1770, but no Ambrose 1752 (who must have died, as theres Ambrose again in1762.)
It`s an interesting find Ermy, and may lead to some  thing else. I have a paper story of Ambrose b.1822 who was found in the morning drowned in the beck at Staindrop,(should have taken his water with the whiskey before leaving the pub).!!

Hi Val,
Strange! I have just been watching Jason Donavon on "Who do you think you are" and Liut. Colonel Lachlan Macquarie is mentioned ( Ambroses Commanding officer). then i came on the comp. and found your posting.
I have just changed my Ambroses around recently and now they read the same as yours. After going over your post i am confident that all your details tie up with mine, so after about 8 yrs I will lay it to rest, (but would love to know where Am married Sarah)
                                  Good luck and thanks Fred

Hik Alan, Sorry, but i should have checked my old notes. Martha was johns second wife and Eliz. his 1st, every thing else ok.
I havnt concentrated on this line, as i had enough to do sorting out the others, but a yank who wifes line descends from it, wrote some papers, a lot that i didnt agree with. However he wrote that John( who may be the wrong one according to me) sailed in several ships.
I havnt done any ship research, maybe you could enlighten me on how its done.He writes "John Marrington was a seaman. At 16 he can be found as an apprentice on the ship Danube. By age 21 he was a seaman on the ship Sea Flower. He was later on the ship Restless, and by age 23 he was a cook on the ship Gironde."
I am sure that J. Donnison marrington was down as Waterman and cobleman
on ch. baps.
One of his daus.eugenie married a swedish sailor olaf Peddersson and went to usa (mormons i believe.)

regards Fred

Hi again.
Right Alan, here goes. I found three lines of Merrington or Marrington in Sunderland. John c1770; Peter 1768; and John c1748. There is various matching up by different people, but i am quite confident in what i have.
The line that you are concerned with is the John (roper)1748. He married a Margaret Park, and one of their ch. was Matthew (Keelman)1771 =Eliz. Thompson, they had a John1796 Keelman /pilot( who couldnt be found, but i found him as bp. John Barrington. D.R.O.L have since verified this).
He married Elizabeth(no marriage ever found) and had John Donnison(mariner)Marrington, his second wife Martha Fairlam had your Elizabeth.
All three lines have Seamen and Shipwrights, also shipbuilders and shipowners. Peter loaned the money for the building of the Bethel chapel where he was later entombed.
I found myself involved with this lately when they were all dug up, but its not for open discussion. Apathy reigns in Sunderland.!!!!

Ask if you want more on any of the above.
Are your Bateys related to Burnsides
   Fred
