Mariac,

Thank you again for your work on this.

My Stepmother, Jane, is going to get on this service later and will contribute.

I am trying to work out Alexander and Helen the moved to NZ, and also why then. I understand they were Govt funded, but I wonder if something in the Nigg or regional situation made them leave.

I have tried to attach the family tree I have, but the file is too large. I will need an email address to get it to you?

I would love to know how you connect back into our/my family.

regards

Ghostwhisperer,

Thank you also for "Gravestone in Nigg Churchyard

In memory of Robert Allan who died at Cullisse  on 29th Jan 1880 aged 71 years. Also his sons John Swanson who died on 17th Sep 1863 age 11 years, Duncan who died on 9th May 1865 aged 8 years. Gregor who died at Geelong Australia on 9th May 1866 aged 26 years also of his beloved wife Johanna MacGregor who died 15th Aug  1891 aged 75 years. "

That very much sounds like my ancestors. Alexander (to my knowledge) arrived in New Zealand in 1880. He died on 24th Sept 1928, and was burried at Kelvin Grove Cemetry, Palmerston North, Area B, Block 010, plot 032. He was 80.

Helen died at 85 Marine Parade, Napier on 8th Aug, 1950 aged 96. Napier is my home town, but I live in Sydney.

My Father and Step mother still live in Napier.

I have a full family tree that I am happy to send you. my email is (*).

I am enormously grateful to you also.

Mariac,

Wow, that is unbelieveable. It sounds very much like them. The info I have is Robert Allan, Blacksmith of Rosshire, married Johanna McGregor. The only children of theirs I am aware of is Alexander.

I have Alexander's line of the family available for you on a word file, and will email it to you if you like. My address is (*)

I am enormously grateful to you.

Bruce

Ross & Cromarty / Alexander Allan - Nigg

Hi Folks, just registered, and am looking for further info on the family of Alexander Allan who immigrated to New Zealand in 1880. He was born in Nigg in 1848, and was married to Helen Herdman in Plumstead Endland in 1880. He and Helen left for New Zealand on the "Westland" in 1880, arriving in New Zealand in early 1881. They settled in Featherston where Alexander was a railway Engineer.

I have all the family tree from then, and am looking for some help finding the Scottish end.

Thank you
Bruce
