Thanks. I was hoping the fourth daughter was the one (Ann) that died on the ship out to NZ.  If not...oh bother.. missing a son & a daughter.

Thankyou again for all your help. I have yet to obtain death certs for Alexander & Catherine Sutherland. So I will try that for the missing son. I have found the marriages & deaths & some births of their children from NZbdm online & local cemetery.
By transcript do you mean for the passenger list of their ship Echunga? Yes there was another Sutherland family on ship but have found no family connection and they were from another county.

re Mowat/t I haven't come across this name yet in my tree. Did they come from Sutherland, Scotland  or settle in the Timaru area?

Unfortunately I have no middle names. Only the reference in Cyclopedia that wife Catherine's father was George. Same article states two sons.. family lore says the two brothers fell out over the fathers (Alexander) will and stopped speaking to each. To the extent that the grandchildren of both no longer know that they were related.
 I have been checking the Timaru online cemetery database which is very good as it has photos of the headstones included but haven't worked out the missing son yet. Maybe I should try school records as you suggested.

Thanks again. With all the info you have given me, it proves where the couple are buried and I now have seven children where I only had one before from the NZGS family group.

Does anyone have this couple in their family tree?. I know they had one son at least Alexander Arthur Manson CAMPBELL b.1866Chch - died 1956 he married Bessie GALBRAITH in 1889. They may have emigrated out on the "Brothers Pride" in 1863. But have had no luck finding any other children .
According to Familysearch J & E married 5 Jun 1863 Rogart, Sutherland, Scotland

Does anyone have any further info on these two. They immigrated out on the ship Echunga in 1862 which landed in Timaru then Lyttleton and farmed in Albury/ Geraldine area, the area of Sutherlands was named after Alexander. I believe they had six children but only have five names so far Ann b1861 died on voyage out, Jessie b1860, Mary b1863, John b.1865, Isabella. Would like to find the other brother.
According to Familysearch A & C married in Tain Jan 1858.
Believe brothers of Alexander are Donald b1824 and John b1836 who also immigrated.
