it was and it is - funny how I got her father's year of death, but can't find it on the gro site but it comes up through ancestry - back to the grindstone

You will have seen the baptism on FindMyPast of a Diana Ikin on 13 April 1833 in Montgomery with parents Samuel and Martha.    Martha died pre 1841 and Samuel died in 1842 after which I can't see Diana in later census years

I wonder whether this Diana might have taken a few years off her age when she married a younger hussband - my grandmother did

no I didn't see that - possibly as I was looking for her (1836 - 1839) as her husband Richard was born 1839 - will go back to Findmypast - thank you for that

looking for a parish marriage in 1860 in the 2nd Quarter for a Richard Green and Diana Ikin - yes I do have the gro details, but I would prefer the actual parish record details  please

I have spent 15 years of my life, not to mention the amounts of money I have thrown at my "roots" using all sorts of information available and at times even getting it wrong -  just to find out that like the hints in the tree others are using DNA because it's easier.

But then, after reading some of the social media, I take heart from those that have uncovered missing chapters from their life, the adoptees, the estranged, the brick walls - and I hope that I too can uncover one or two of my brick walls -

My fence sitting days are over - come Christmas in my stocking will be a DNA testing kit.
