Sorry for the delay in replying, work keeps getting in the way.

The Lily Martin I am interested in was born c.1905 and I *think* she is the one who gets a job at Whittingham Asylum / Hospital in Barbara Jacobs book.  Simon, any information you could obtain would be appreciated.  I haven't yet read Gail Newsham's book, but it is on my list of things to do.

I don't know if it will help, but her parents were Tomas Martin and Bella Sankey and she was born in Walton-Le-Dale, one of 12 children

TIA

Stuart

I know that my Great Grand Aunt Lily Martin was a member of the Dick Kerr Ladies Football Team in the 1920's, but I am unable to find any information specific to her or point her out on any of the team photo's.  I have read Barbara Jacobs book and emailed her, but she was very unhelpful stating "Everything I know is in my book".  Does anyone have any more information at all or can point me at another resource other than dickkerrladies.com and the 2 books available?

TIA

Well, I looked around 90% of the churchyard without much success today before the rain set in, but the grounds keeper told me to see Irene at the church Hall so that's my plan for tomorrow.

I did find a different Shepherd headstone, but 'll save the details until I know more about the one you want.

Unfortunately, in this case it seems like a case of "all the people related to those lot are dead so we won't bother with that area" as the "newer (1900's+)" plots at the bottom of the hill are kept pristine!
