Sussex / Thomas Tamsett marriage about 1750
« on: Monday 28 March 11 16:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I am looking for a marriage between a Thomas Tamsett and Elizabeth sometime before 1759 in possibly Brede. I am a member of Sussex FHG and have their Marriage Index CD but it has gone belly-up since moving to Windows 7. Tamsett could be Tomsett or any of the variants Tompset, Thompsett, Tamset, etc. If any one can help either with the marriage or the CD I would be quite happy  :)

IGI has the marriage of James Ransom & Elizabeth Bayle as 15 May 1720 which is more in keeping with my estimated births of the children. For once I forgot my Golden Rule of looking on the "Other Side of the River" (ie Kent) when it comes to my East Sussex parishes!

Thanks Omega - my SMI disk has stopped working so I did not know of the marriage. There are a number of children mentioned in the will who cannot be verified - the belief is they were Anabaptists and can only be identified by C of E burials or later adult baptisms.

Anyone know anything about a will of James RANGER carpenter of Northiam dated 4 May 1770. Looks like he may have been buried in Northiam two years later.

Thank you all! Yes, I knew it was 1837 ... I'm just a little tired! I am always amazed at how helpful you all are in Australia. I'll follow these leads tomorrow (er ... today) when the sun comes back to the UK and I get out of bed.

John Boots and his wife Charlotte Catt arrived on the COROMANDEL at Adelaide in 1839. It was the first migrant ship to arrive after the declaration of the province. Does anyone have any information about this couple, or any descendants? They were married in Hastings, Sussex, UK in 1836 and I'd hate to think they just fell off the edge of the world! :-[

Looking for information on Charlie Sergeant Bootes and family who emigrated to Canada from Sussex (UK) about 1903. Also his sister Katherine Nock Bootes who was a nurse serving in WW1. I see there are some BOOTES families still living in the area.

Hi, I'm looking for anyone related to the BOOTES family who left Sunderland in UK and went to Adelaide before the First World War. Frederick George Bootes and his sons Frederick George, alfred Charles, and Charles Ernest i have found in the National Archives of Australia for their service with the AIF 1914-1918, but there must be some left who are descended from them or can help me further.
