Can anyone help in tracing the parents of David Chapman b. 19 Apr 1787 in Crayford, Kent.  and d. 1871 in Mile End Old Town, Middlesex.

It is possible that his father was John Chapman and his mother was Maria.

Thanks

Mark,
Thank you so much for you help and information.
Do you have any hints as to where I can find further info. on the Sible Hedingham James Rand's family in order to verify that there is a connection?  I know that Samuel Rand had ten children the last five being born in Steeple, Essex - my direct connection being the last Emily Rand b. 1854.
John

Thanks Mark - Does this data on Samuel provide any insight to James Rand's (Rann?) parents.

I have tracked the Willingales back to Thomas Willingale who married Ellan Milborn at Great Dunmow, Essex on  1 Nov 1563 although the Willingales are of secondary interest.

The info I have is as follows:
James Rand married a Jane who was b. about 1773
They had a son Samuel Rand b. 1809 in either Goldhanger or St. Lawrence
Samuel married Mary Willingale in St. Nicholas, Tillingham.
Samuel died December 22nd 1879 in St. Lawrence.

Thanks for the info., however, I am assuming that Harriet is daughter rather than son. Unless he was like the boy named Sue ;-)

Thank you for the information.  Because of the proximitly of the birth and baptism dates there is a reasonable probability that it is a bona fide connection.
Can you tell me the source of this data?
Although born in England we live in the USA.

Ray B,
You are an absolute gem. yet again thank you.

Whether Mary Peat Storey is a Cordwell I do not know although intuitively it makes sense but on the other hand that is dangerous in this game.
I now have Josiah as the 6th child of David Chapman and Mary Peat Storey.

I am in the USA but grew up in Essex; and it would be nice if you would be willing to divulge your neck of the woods - if not publically then by email.

(A point of interest - I knew my greatgrandfather John Robert Chapman who was the greatgrandson of David Chapman. I used to visit him in Melbourne Road, East Ham regularly with my father when I was a young lad).

Do you think there is any hope of finding out info. on David's father and mother? (john chapman and maria is all I have)
