Does Martin Aaron still read this list and is he still collecting information on Waterloo Ancestors?

Or indeed is anyone collecting this information?

Hi Daisy, I don't know the answer to the first question. The father, Samson Craven died in Halifax 21 Feb 1875. I have a guesstimate birth year for Elizabeth as 1814 and that would put her age at approx 60 for 1875.
So far have not been able to find a death fro Elizabeth Craven in UK that lines up. I think someone on Ancestry had her death as 1989 but no proof to verify it.

Lydia's brother Benjamin went to America in 1861, ship unknown, facts from his naturalisation paper. He died 29 Oct 1911 Methuen, Essex, Mass.

Her sister Martha Ann and brother Joseph are unknowns. The other brother Josiah stayed in Halifax, married Fanny Hemingway and died in Halifax 1987.

I will see if I can locate that shipping list for the details.

Regarding Matthew Nutter, he gave his occupation as a farm labourer on the NBOYNTON voyage from NY to Sydney.
He was a carpet printer in the 1871 UK census. So there is a possibility he could be the man I am seeking. Most of the family were associated with the weaving industry. Matthew was a builder in NSW Australia.

Will have to see if I can find that list as well. But it does not solve what his mother Marry NUTTER and sister Hannah BENN did about travelling to America.

I am most grateful for your assistance.

regards, fred ..

Good news, the Benn Nutter marriage was the right one and managed to get the birth of daughter Hannah and sadly the death of Abraham 2 months after her birth.
Still trying to find out how and when they went to America.

Thanks Pauline, found that marriage cert of Joseph Nutter and Kershaw. Not sure where it fits in.

Could not find the mar cert of Abraham Benn and Mary Nutter but have sent for it with the references. I think it will be incorrect, like a previous one.

BUT a big win, found the marriage of Mary Nutter and John Blackburn with whom she was living in 1871 census along with her son Mathew Nutter. WOW. And she was the widow Benn in that marriage.

That marriage detail looks good I will send away for it tonight.

George is a complete unknown at present although I have just found a marriage to a Mary N in 1844 to a George Woodhead. Will probe that more before I plonk the pounds, too many rushed decisions before ended up with wrong cert.

There were a lot of Mary Nutters around in those days. Indeed a lot of Nutter families that I have not mad a connection with, yet.

Have no idea on the Joseph Nutter and Mary Kershaw connection at this point in time. Hipperholme is not too far away on google. Richard Kershaw father was Thomas Kershaw. have th marriage cert of RK & E & both death cert.

Also have to spend more time combing the Canada shipping, but have done a lot so far with no luck.
will keep looking. fred ..

Hi Jorose, thank you for the information, Yes I have found the info on the marriage of MHN & LC and the 1871 census.

I also thought mutual travel to America. But I do have a ship manifest of Mary N, MHM, LC & Hannah B all travelling from NY to Sydney in 1877. So that section of the family went & I am unable to find out how they got to America.

Lydia had at least one brother Benjamin living in Lawrence Mass, and I don't know how he got there but he arrived 1861 and was naturalized, 1890 US census. Lydia worked in the Arlington woollen mills in Lawrence Mass. USA but I have not found any other means of follow up.

Yes Hannah Benn is the HKA died in Au buried in Mays Hill cemetery.

Bit of hand holding needed please, I am unable to see the marriage of MN to AB in 1856.

RK was married to MN's sister Elizabeth but she died 1870 aged 40.

MN also had 2 brothers James 1823 Mathew 1826 and John 1827

I have not been able to find any of my NUTTER family in the 1861 census and presume it is because there were allegedly a lot of pages damaged and lost. Another brick wall.
