William Marshall and Mary Cartmill are my Great, Great, Great, Grandparents. Mary's parents are John Cartmill and Mary Troughton From Ireland, the Cartmills owned farmland in Armagh, Ireland. William and Mary had Mary Jane Marshall, who married Patrick McDivitt in Glasgow, but they must have lived in Edinburgh, where their daughter Agnes McDivitt was born, (my Great grandmother) Agnes McDivitt married 3 times, before she died age 41 in 1922. 1st James Morrison and had 2 sons, then 2nd James Cummiskey and had 4 children, 3 living to adulthood, Hugh, Agnes and Mary, plus their half siblings James and Johnny Morrison.  then Archibald McGregor. Agnes Cummiskey was my grandmother born in Edinburgh in 1908, married my grandfather James Casey and had my dad James Casey in 1934 - 1990. I was born in Glasgow in 1959...

My Hugh Cummiskey of Co. Monaghan was a shoe maker... His parents were John Cummiskey (Farmer) and Sarah Carr. I was led to believe that Hugh was one of 4 brothers who were musicians. Hugh married Mary Gardner and one of their sons was my G Grandfather Matthew Cummiskey (Slippermaker) who married Agnes Livingston. Hugh married Mary in 1841 and he died in 1889. Is this of any confirmation to you Seumas?
I don't know very much about the Casey's I'm afraid... Just that James Casey born 1831 was from Co Monaghan, his parents were Patrick Casey and Agnes Boyle. He married Mary Roache here in Scotland. in 1971. Can you please let me know if we have a connection Seumas eh! Thanks my friend...

Hi Seumas
Don't know if you will get this? But here goes...
My Casey's and Cummiskey's married in Glasgow (Gran and Grandfather) 1933, But the Casey's Came from Co Monaghan and I think the Cummiskey's came from there too can't be sure though!

James casey born 1831 was the one who came to Glasgow and married a Scots lass Mary Roache.
Hugh Cummiskey born about 1820 Ireland married Mary Gardner in 1841 in Glasgow.
My Grandmother Agnes Cummiskey born 1908 married James Casey born 1905 in glasgow 1933.
Do you think there is any connection? I have many more names in between if you are interested...

Hi I am Susan from Glasgow Scotland. My G Grandfather Robert John Gilliland b1874 married Maggie Conly, came to Glasgow 1898. Robert's Father was George Earnest Gilliland and married Jane Turbitt. Do these names mean anything to you? I don't know much about the Gillilands and have made an appeal also on this web site for help...
