Hi

Would love to have made to Sydney but health restriction say I cannot fly. But aside from that I would kindly ask that someone who will be there for ANZAC  Day place a poppy on the Memorial for me.

Thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful time in Sydney.

Thank you Gerry

The census information was helpful but a tad confusing. Is the William Smith residing in Church Street the father or the son. I will search Trove for answers. As for Ellen Mary Smith I have on electoral roll up to 1972 so the accident was around that time. But have no death record for her and no grave for her. Thanks for the info regarding family tree.

Thank you all

You have put me on the right track.  Have found a few articles in Trove that piece together everything. Still looking. Interested in the death of Ellen Smith, it is said she was involved in a car accident.

Also will go looking for George Smith and Anne Bowen.

Again thank you.

Australia / William John SMITH Queensland
« on: Friday 01 February 13 05:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have used the usual resources but am coming up empty on this man. He died in 1946 in Queensland and his son and some relatives are mentioned. The actual article has not been scanned yet by Trove but it is him. What I am trying to find is his wife. I know that he had a son named William as well. This is the little I have found Families. Mr. and Mrs. William Smith, Goodna. Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Bahr. Brisbane, and Misses Ellie and Beth Smith. Goodna. are invited to attend the Funeral of their deceased Father. Fathering and Grandfather. William John Smith, late of Church Street. Goodna.

I am trying to find William John Smiths ancestors and where he came from.

Thank you kind Chatters  for any help you can give.

Australia / And the winner is Miss Mines
« on: Tuesday 07 August 12 08:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I have found a snippet of information stating that the winner of the raffle of the Prince of Wales gold nugget  was a Miss Mines of O'Keeffe Street South Brisbane.

This would have occurred in either 1921 or 1922 and I am hoping that someone could assist with information regarding Miss Mines. What was her first name and did she marry.

Many thanks

Hello Inquirer007

Welcome to Rootschat.   Thank you for the information regarding the Rice family,  my apologies for the misspelling of the Tuohy name.

Would love to hear from you again.

Australia / Re: John CONNICK Charters Towers

Hi Muss and Cass

I did not know that there some records missing from the Qld BDM index, which would explain a lot. Have searched the immigration records and come up with nothing. So my only hope is that some how the name Matilda Thomas will be a key in finding John Connick.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Muss.

Yes, John Connick was the father of Edward Victor Connick who died in WW1. How I wish I had a photo of the Edward and his brother Harry before they went to war. Neither returned.

I am researching John Connick's father who also was called John Connick and married to Matilda Thomas.

Many thanks

McG
