« on: Sunday 31 July 22 08:48 BST (UK)  »
Hello John
On checking my records I do have one branch with surname Poole.

Hugh Billington m Margaret Minshull (5 x).

2nd child of Hugh & Margaret, Thomas B m Hannah (ka Anne) Hilditch (4 x).

6th child of Thomas & Hannah, Richard B m Mary Duncan (Richard younger brother to my 3 x grt grandfather John B).

3rd child of Richard & Mary, Thomas B m Mary Butters.

6th child of Thomas & Mary, Anne B m Edward Poole.
Only found one child of Anne & Edward:
John Thomas Slater Poole
Bapt 01.05.1881
1881 Census: 10 Wall Lane, Nantwich
Age 5 months
Living with mother and grandparents.

Is this the correct branch for your Poole?

Regards, marthaannie

Hello John
Yes definitely, Hugh and Margaret (Minshull) Billington are my 5 x great grandparents.
Their second child Thomas was my 4 x great grandparent, married Hannah Hilditch.
Eldest child of Thomas was John and he was my 3 x great grandparent, married Elizabeth Williams.
I have a rather large file on the Billington family and happy to help if you can tell me which child of Hugh and Margaret your wife is descended from, my records show they had 9 children?
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hello Jo
Have I got this right please, I'm not the sharpest  ???

Thomas Amos m Martha ?
One son Robert Amos married Mary Davies
Grandson of Thomas: John Amos married Jane Roberts

A second son, brother of Robert, Joseph married Grace Jones.
Their son Robert Amos married Jane Evans.

I do hope I have this right, if so, I can fill in all the other siblings with the information you have given me.

Many thanks, marthaannie

Hello aghadowey
Thank you for introducing me to the Census Websites, they are so very interesting, the different occupations are fascinating in 1918, well worth reading.

Hello KG and aghadowey

1911 Census confirming No. 47 was a Lodging House.

I have checked the 1918 website, James not at No. 47.  Reason for checking 1918 Edith his wife died in 1918 (3 years after marriage), James not present at death. His occupation listed as Boilermaker (Journeyman).  I will check the other addresses near the Docks to see if he changed Lodging House.

Thank you for your interest. marthaannie

Hello Colin and Mabel
If John and Robert are two brothers I do wonder why they both died so young, John 34yrs and Robert 42yrs, were deaths recorded in a local newspaper at this time?

Thomas 9yrs showing in the 1841 Census with his mother Jane and siblings, 1851C with mother 18yrs, is the grandfather of Edith Amos who married my grandfather's brother William James Froggatt (ka James), Edith is buried with her husband and my grandfather in Crewe Cemetery, Cheshire, although only Edith's name is to be found on the gravestone.

Amos seems to be a popular surname around 1841 and before, do you know if where any records of churches baptisms, marriages and deaths are kept?

I have tried several times to go further back with John who married Jane Roberts, so many families with the surname Amos it gets confusing  ???

Thank you for your interest, appreciated.
