Please can anyone offer any information about this soldier's nationality, date and which army the uniform belongs to? Photo came with others from a possible Continental European source.

Thanks everyone, in answer to the queries this one is in fact a print of an original pen and ink drawing, made by an ancestor of mine. I have several others (including the originals) which have all been identified, all were made between 1936-38, and unfortunately all over the southern half of the UK - including Boston Lincs, Dartmouth, Shrewsbury, Wells and the London area. Sorry I can't be more specific with an area but other works seem to be in this (wide) region.

Can anyone help with the location of these buildings, a pen and ink sketch made just before the start of WWII? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you everyone, it has been a great help. It seems to be the Aske's Hospital in Pitfield Road Hoxton, c1880. The building is now some rather exclusive apartments with a small park. Many thanks to all for taking the time to reply.

Thank you all for your thoughts. Here's as good a photo as I can make of the statue plinth, the original is a rather faded sepia 12" x 8" print, the photographers were Johnston & Co.

Please can anyone help to identify this building. The photo was taken by photographers in Stoke Newington, so presumably it's in London - is it a workhouse or similar? And would it be late nineteenth century? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a copy of a family history self-published book entitled ,FLESH AND BLOOD, Antecedents of the Dobson-Garrigan family of Beloit Wisconsin written by MASON C DOBSON in 1982. It runs to 350 pages of A4 spiral-bound and weighs 1100 grams. I should like to return it to any family member or anyone interested in those names, rather than just dispose of it locally. Please contact me for further information

Many thanks everybody, especially ShaunJ - the Strand indeed! I knew it was probably somewhere near Charing Cross but couldn't work out exactly where.
