World War One / Photograph Identification of Regiment

Hi, Further to my previous post.

When Arthur Collins was dispersed from the RAF in September 1919. I believe that he stayed in military service until 1921. The uniform in the attached photograph looks more like army to me.  Can anyone help.

On the RAF Record Card for Arthur Collins born 23 July 1900 in Leeds it states that his service was as follows

26 July 1918 - 14 December 1918 - ST n 9?

and 14 December 1918 - 17 September 1919 - S (W) ARD

Can anyone throw any light on these abbreviations.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Bed and Breakfast 20 Portland Place Bridlington - Late 1920's and 30's

I am interested if anyone has any information on the above run I believe by Joseph and Polly Ann Mawman  in the late 20's and into 30's. The couple were originally from Leeds. Are there any archives of old brochures etc that could possibly be looked up for me? etc. 

Any help would be  very welcome.

Thank you all. Whilst I am going to research more I have noticed that whilst three of the census records for Simon refers to his birthplace as Arkendale, another one does state Arkengarthdale. Two vey different places some miles apart.

Your suggestions indicate that this could be the correct direction.

Hi,

I am trying to trace a birth/baptism date and parent details and dates for the above. I have picked up his trail from his marriage in Arksey, Doncaster in 1837 and thereafter. 

Any help would be very useful.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Newspaper Article - Death of Lance Corporal Hubert Percival Farrand of Blackpool

Could someone please look up the above death in the appropriate archives of the local newspaper for Blackpool at the Local and Family History Centre at the Library.     

A soldier in the York and Lancaster Regiment (12th (Service) Battalion, he died 1 July 1916, He is buried at the Luke Copse British Cemetery.

I am particularly interested in any additional information that may be in any article e.g. text of any letter sent to next to Kin etc. any other personal details.

World War One / C/168th Brigade Royal Field Artillery after March 1917

In early 1917 the above Brigade formed part of the 32nd Division in the Pursuit to the Hindenburg Line. I know that after this period artillery units were sometimes divorced from their divisions. I am having great trouble piecing together their actions from this date until early 1918.

Can anyone help. I believe that a short history was once written by their adjutant but I cannot trace this. Can anyone help with either their movements or the book.

It was definitely the BEF as by 7 July 1915, he was in Rouen possibly at the ASC Base Depot.  The information I have is taken from amongst other sources, from Ancestry.

The soldier in question is Private Thomas Frederick Hughes born 1893 in Sheffield before moving to Horbury near Wakefield. He enlisted on 20 March 1915.

Hi,

Can anyone help with the following notes on a Service Record Card.

The soldier in question was a Blacksmith by Trade and militarily was in the Mechanical Transport Companies. His record says that he was part of the 177 Company but that cannot be correct as he went to France in July 1915 and I believe they went to Egypt.

The annotations are:-

Expeditionary Force France (177 Co) - 6-7-15 - 7-9-18

Posted to 4 ATSC (or Col)

5 Aux P Boy??

3 ATSC

FS Col??

Can anyone throw any light on these?
