Hoping some lovely person can help with details of a marriage.

Would be grateful for any additional info on this.

Thanks very much,

What was your great grandmother's name and was she still in Liverpool in 1901/1911?

What are the names of his wife and children?  That could possibly help in finding an obituary.

Hi Nottsgirl,

Thanks for the map offer. I was lucky to get the same offer from another kind person and I did get a copy of the map yesterday. At least now I have a clearer picture of just how big this cemetery is... it is massive! With the limited time I have to spend in Nottingham, I'm starting to think that I will not be lucky enough to find the grave. I will try my best though! Hopefully there will be some apparent order to the graves and it will be easier to narrow down the search area.

Thanks for your help!

Well, I tried the email and actually got a very quick response. I did get a map of the cemetery, unfortunately, it was Rock Cemetery! Don't think that will help! They said that was the only copy they had.

I also tried another email that I found online and also got a very quick response. They said that the only map for General Cemetery is at the archives.

Again, thanks to all for their help.

Hi Gary,

Are you sure they stayed in Canada?

There is a passenger list entry on the Queen Mary, March 1939, travelling from New York to Southampton.
Margaret Sawers age 62 (born 1877)  Housewife
Alexander Sawers age 25 (born 1914) Medical Orderly
Proposed address in UK is 63, Smith St, Nelson, Lancs
Country of last permanent residence is England
Country of intended residence is England

There is also a marriage of Alexander Sawers to Constance Williams, September quarter 1942, Surrey North Eastern, Surrey

And a birth of Alexander R J Sawers (mother's maiden name Williams), June quarter 1946, Surrey North Western, Surrey

Names and ages seem to fit.

Regards,
Lesley

Thank you very much to both Carol (for the info) and Nottsgirl (for the lookup offer).

Does anyone know if there is a map available at the cemetery to help locate graves?  I'll be visiting England in a few weeks and would love to get photos of the grave.

Thanks,

Lesley

Hi Emma,

Yes, I did try there. No luck though.

Thanks, Lesley
