Lanarkshire / Re: Adelphi St Glasgow

Hi, thanks for your reply.   I have a birth certificate for 1892 for a Thomas Young and birth place is given as 41 Adelphi St, Glasgow. Born illegitimate to Margaret McMahon and father Thomas Young whose address is given as 51 1/2 Adelphi St. I am trying to research the mother Margaret. I do not believe the parents ever married. I am hoping Margaret lived at 41. It is rather complicated as the baby Thomas  took the MCMahon name in later years.

Hi

I am trying to find out the occupants of 41 Adelphi St Glasgow in 1891 without taking myself off to Glasgow to research! Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Squirejay.  William Roseburgh and Robina Butler’s son Robert Roseburgh 1891-1918 married Isabella Buchan 1891-1988 and they had three daughters, Robina (Ruby) 1912-1996 Isabella (Isa) and Agnes (Nan). As You know Robert died in WW1. though not blood related to this family, Ruby was step great granny to my children.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I know George is a definate relative. I suppose i am hoping someone out there will read this and think my George could be their George!  Maybe find out a little more when the 1921 census is released! Long time to wait though. Lesson learned by all this is that i should have , sensitively, asked a lot more questions before it was too late. It was hard enough getting what little i have! An extended family is out there somewhere. Annette i am thinking you might have something with the Burtcher guy and i will dig deeper with that. Just because he was married in 1919 doesnt mean he is not my man. Thanks all.

I only have the information given and a photo of him which was given to me 10 years ago by a dying relative. Not a lot to go on i am afraid.

Trying to find a George Butcher who would have been living in Edinburgh area early 1920's. I think he was originally from west Scotland, possibly Glasgow. He worked in a dairy in Liberton/Gilmerton area of Edinburgh for a while in 1924. would have been born approx 1900.
Thanks Irene

Rosie/Sandy
Thank you so much for your suggestions and pointing me in the right direction.  I now have the location of the grave and will be visiting soon.  Sandy, the memento-mori website was invaluable and led me very quickly to what I was looking for.  I have also found a few more ancestors on the list as well.
Many thanks
Irene

Looking to find out if anyone knows where Andrew Cameron, who died in Falkirk in 1921, is buried. He was married to Agnes Ronald who died in 1944. Any help would be appreciated. I know the council will do a search but at great expense. Hoping someone may have information in their tree. Many thanks. Irene

Hi Allan

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it.  Since Mary died in USA I will search no further.  I have always wondered why she was brought up by the Russells and what the connection, if any, there was  between her birth parents and the Russells but guess I will never know.

I am hoping to download my trees onto Ancestry but need to learn how to!

Best regards

Irene
