Yes is Ancestry's,  that is incomplete, but they are  at least 2/3s of the way through uploading annd the images are far superior to those on the National Archive site

Yes, apart from the fact they are colour scans of the original Medal index cards and they show back and front of the cards ( unlike those on documents online) , although you should be aware that not all the card have been up-loaded yet

Possible it may not have yet been uploaded as they have not dealt with WO363 missorts, but as 2/3 of these record were destroyed during WW2, I wouldn't hold much hope of them being at Kew. I'll keep an eye out tho.

Doddie

Name 'Pension Records' is a bit misleading as they are really just copies of records that were in the hands of the Pensions department, not a full list of those who recieved pensions and in fact your man may be in the surviving WO363 service records, which Ancestry are currently uploading ( only A-C available as yet).

Medal card on Ancestry are also as not fully uploaded ( around about 50% I believe) and your man's  card appears not to be on yet, but he does appear on National Archives database of mdal cards

Medal card of  Stewart, George J
Corps: Cameron Highlanders Depot
Regiment No: S/32166
Rank: Private
 1914-1920 WO 372/19

Should include the missorts and after a quick look there are over 20 Joseph Bennetts listed, can you give more details?

Hi Romilly.

Re: Holman

11th (Service) Battalion (Lewisham)Queens Own Royal West Kent's.  Formed at Lewisham on 5 May 1915, by the Mayor R Jackson, and a local Committee. July 1915 : attached to 118th Brigade, 39th Division. October 1915 : transferred to 122nd Brigade, 41st Division. Some experienced regulars were either transferred into the unit or brought out of retirement and by mid November the Battalion was at full strength. There were some changes in command before the Battalion went overseas in May 1916 led by Lieutenant Colonel AF Townshend (formerly of the Scottish Rifles) with Major AC Corfe 2nd in command. They blooded their swords in some minor actions in the Ypres / Armentieres area before moving down to the Somme area in August / September. They were involved in one of the first tank attacks at Flers  September 15/16 and lost 443 men including Townshend who was killed.
