Turns out that I may not have found the right William after all... contacted family to the man I thought was the one.  None of the pictures they sent  match mine...  not sure what to do now.. haven't been in any chat forums for a while.

An earlier post made by 'Winston' I wish to reply too.

our grandmother was not married to this man, she became pregnant to him during the war, he announced he was already married, but I have found no record at that time that he was, rather, two years later he married a Brenda Darmody (dec 1966) then remarried in 1973, I am hesitant to name this person as she may still be living, however  i do know her full name.

Hi polarbear thank you for linking the two threads together, I wasn't sure how to do it in this forum. I was aware of the policy of not talking of the living, I was just hoping that someone might have an idea of how to find the relatives.  I have in fact sent many many letters in plea of someone recognising my grandfathers' picture.  I made contact with a distant family member in Yorkshire, that is where my gf passed in 1995.

I have actually managed to trace his ancestors right back to 1700's. Seems I work better with the dead than the living   ;D  I had joined GenesReunited and have joined trees with a couple of people.  It has become very expensive in deed with the exchanged rate,as I am in Aus, and most of my searching is in England and scotland.
I am a bit of a bloodhound and don't give up on a trail. I have placed numerous ads in newspapers and forums, also searched facebook.. but it is out there hopefully one day someone will see the picture and let me know.  Thanks for your  suggestions I will take your advice...

:D  Good day to all, some time ago my sister posted in this forum looking for my grandfather William McEwen, born 1917 in Dennistoun,Lanark, Glasgow city. I have his death certificate so we can talk about him now.  Has anyone got an idea of how we might find his family. I know he was married twice and have both womens names and their children's names....how do I find them in the UK all the people search sites charge like wounded bulls.. is there anyway I might search without costing an arm and a leg especially when I don't know where they are from the time William passed... I have that address where he died.

if anyone can help ..please !!
