Thank you Jewel,
I have a copy of the 1863 Marriage cert. thank you but would of course be interested in any other facts or material which you have. Have you determined whether the mothers name was Niven or Nivon? I suspect the former. I may have material of interest to you. My father(now deceased) had retained a correspondence file which includes correspondence from America. My father in a note says he is aware that his fathers family went to America. This connection may be of interest as the Eadie surname appears. Not all have a surname but addresses include New York and New Bedford Mass. dates range from 1880s to say 1940. Some poor condition and some incomplete. i will need to work on them but if I had names of persons of interst I will see what I can find.
I am new to this, first day yesterday, so not yet clear on alternative communication method.

Hi Jewel,
I am just starting research and was pleased to see your message. I am the grandson of Capt James Miller Stott who retired in Melbourne. The only information I have is that he was the son of George Stott and Agnes Miller who married 22nd December 1863. George was the son of William Stott and Jane Dempster whilst Agnes was the daughter of James Miller and Jane Niven/Nivon. I have no birth marriage or death dates for this group. I recall the name Eadie being referred to by my father but did not know the connection. I hope this adds a little and would also appreciate anything you have to add to my scant knowledge.
