To be honest I have found that side of the family difficult to trace, basically my great grandads mother had him out of marraige so no father was listed and it appears that he was bought up by my great great grandmother, and took the Gates name.

As I know they had a soon Peter born, I would imagine that it is going to be the william gates and elizabeth peckham that I am looking at.

Hi Jack,

My grandad used to live at St Marys Lodge until he retired so I have spent many a summer holiday there :)

The relatives graves which you have found are ones I have visited often as they are of my aunt, great uncles and great grandmothers.

Many thanks though :)

Hi,

I have been tracing my tree for a while now. Basically I have found some information in regards to an ancestor but not sure it is right, I have found it through several members trees on ancestry, and just wanted to know what people think.

I have an ancestor called Peter Gates (born 1824) in Southampton, Hampshire. He was married to a lady called Rachel Lane.
I have found a census record that states him living with his mother Betty who was born in 1782, and it lists siblings at that time in the household as Anna (1821) and Sarah (1820).

Through Ancestry I have found people listing Peter's father as Joseph Gates (born 1777, Bodre, Hampshire). He married Elizabeth Rickman in 1802. the following children are listed for them:
elizabeth 1803
joseph 1804
sarah 1820
anna 1821
peter 1824

the only issue I have is that most people with this in their tree state that Elzabeth rickman died in 1804. I cannot find evidence of this, and I have a census record from much later saying that she is alove, also the childrens births would not work if this was true.

Any thoughts??? Hope all this makes sense!!!

Hi,
I have the following information on great great aunts and uncles but was wondering if anyone knew of or where i could find more information ....

Kathleen Galbally born 1901/02 in Carlow. Died in a fire at the age of approx 10.

John Galbally born 1906/07 in Carlow. Died in a motorcycle accided in his 30s on Meganey Bridge.

I have tried to look at the online paper archives but found nothing but would think that both may have been in some paper.

I have found most of the basic information but would like to find out more about my ancestors, obviously in England this is easily found through the census. Is there any way to find out more information easily, as unfortunately I dont live in Ireland.  :-\
