Many thanks Denise,

I did a little bit research into Horace as he was the only comrade's name mentioned in my granduncle's letter. Miss Margaret Farrell was my grandmother's best friend and a bridesmaid at her wedding in 1918. Margaret ran a newsagents at the local railway station. She never married. According to some of my older relatives she 'was engaged to a soldier that was killed in the war.' It was not until I came across his will, that the penny dropped. One explanation is that Horace came to Tramore to pay his respects to John's family, met Margaret and got engaged.
From his military records, it is obvious that he was a very brave man and from the little that I have found out about him, he was also a true friend.

The account mentioning 'Thos. Scott, master' was originally published in the Waterford Chronicle on 1 Feb 1816. The next publication on 3 Feb stated; 'We stated erroneously, the name of the master of the transport, which is Gibbs'.

The Thos Scott account was republished in Newspapers and periodicals all over the UK and also in the States.

I've being researching this one for quite awhile myself. The Captain, James Gibbs stated that the ship was 350 tons burden and Lloyd's list give her origin as London. Everything else written about the ship's origin appears to be erroneous. http://www.1812privateers.org/LLOYDS/1816/02-06-1816.jpg

Occupation Interests / admissions to the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple COMPLETED
« on: Wednesday 12 February 14 01:00 GMT (UK)  »
Hi folks,
I can't find this book in the National Library of Ireland and was hoping someone on this site would be kind enough to help me out. I found a link on Google Books that references 'Richard Power son and heir of Thomas P. of Garran Morris in 'The Register of admissions to the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, from the fifteenth century to the year 1944, Volume 1' page 313. but it is only a snippet view and doesn't include the date of admission. I would be grateful if someone who has access to the book could help me out.

I'm going to do a free Genealogy Report for ancestors from the Republic of Ireland, to be auctioned on line for a Waterford family appeal. Would it be alright to post details on this site?

Hi Mindy, The accident in 1921 was actually in Waterford, but it was my family as well. :)
Thanks to you as well, Trevor, no joy down that avenue yet.
