Antrim Completed Look up Requests / adoptions in the early 1900s
« on: Wednesday 22 February 12 14:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I would be grateful as to any advice as to how adoptions were arranged  and facilitated in the early 1900s.  The ancestors [2 sisters aged two and four] were adopted from the Falls Road area to two separate families in England about 1906..I know that they were orphaned in 1908 following the death of their parents and another baby sister from TB, but the impression I was given was that they may have been sent to England slightly before that date.  The 1911 census has confirmed that they were adopted in the the North of England

Any advice would be much appreciated

many thanks

James according to the 1901 census was born in 1864 in Armagh..in 1901 he was living with his 4 sons in Sultan street[he was a widower]  After his 2nd marriage he lived in Varna street in Belfast
I cannot locate any death details for either party.  Any help would be very much appreciated.  Thank you
