Many thanks for your quick response.  I must admit that I haven't yet looked at the 1861 census for him, as the 1851 census states that he was born in Culmstock, hence my inquiry.  Your information does sound like him, I shall carry on searching!!  I saw the IGI entry for his marriage in 1833 at Culmstock.

Never very sure where to put a request for look ups, so if this is the wrong area, sorry.

I am trying to trace William Hutchings born in Culmstock Devon in 1802.  I believe he married in 1833 to a Sarah Hart.  They soon moved to Sydenham Kent and further generations where born and lived out their lives there.  I would dearly like to get further back, so could anyone do a look up for me please to establish parents and siblings.  Many thanks, in advance.

Thanks very much.  I've viewed a lot of the ones on the other site and am still not sure.  As you say, there are some likely ones.  I'll have to see how the old cash goes!!!  Thought there just might be someone out there related who happened to be connected with this site somehow.......................!! I expect I've got the wrong forum, but does anyone have any information on this person.  He was born in 1901 at 39 Greengates, Eccleshill Yorkshire and baptised at Eccleshill St John in 1902.  He lived with his stepfather and mother (1911 census) in Corton near Wakefield (their surname was Burrill).  He died in 1977 in the Wharfedale district of Yorkshire.  I would dearly like to establish whether or not he married and if so, to whom.  There are quite a few Clifford Waltons and I cannot afford to get all the certificates!!!!!  Does anyone have any information?

Yes I saw Emily R Jones and I feel that she is a sibling of William Jnr.  She went on to marry a Stubbington.  Thanks again for looking.

Thanks Patrish - his army details tell me that he was discharged on 20/03/1919 aged 29 - unfit.  I know - it really is such a common name.  Curious that I can't find a marriage between the two also.

Hello there,

Is there anyone who could find any information relating to William Matthews born 1890 and married to Emily Jones.  They had a son, also William Matthews, born January 1917.  I have the son's birth certificate which tells me that at the time of his birth William and Emily lived at 22 Lower Canal Walk Southampton; father William was a Private in the 5th Hants Regiment and is working as a Dock Labourer.  I am unable to find William seniors father/mother/siblings, so cannot get any further with family history.  Also I am unable to trace the marriage of William and Emily.  There are links with 36 Onslow Road Southampton as a medal was sent there in 1923.  I would be grateful for any information (unfortunately I'm unable to offer payment :(

Thanks very much for doing that, could be the right one, but as you say, without anything else to go on it's difficult to say for sure.  Thanks again, will be working on it!!

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: Look up please
« on: Sunday 15 April 12 19:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi Tracey,

Yes it is a common name!!  All I can find is that on the 1851 census it shows her as being born in Escrick, and 35, so I worked out that her year of birth would have been approx 1816.  William, her son is 9 and they are living in Riccall.  I cannot be sure about the 1841 census as wherever the individual lived the county was all that was put.  So really, I am stuck.

William went on to marry Sarah Ellison in Jul/Aug/Sep 1860 in Leeds, so maybe the marriage certificate might tell who his father was, Sarah came from Tadcaster.

Thank you for offering to help.

Best Wishes

Philippa
