Hello CaroleW and Pastmagic,

Once again thank you both for your help, CaroleW for pinpointing a possible lead and Pastmagic for indicating where that I might find more on that lead. I've been with F.M.P for some time now so was reluctant to take another subscription out, however I took a short term sub with the other website and have certainly been pleased that I did, you were absolutely right Pastmagic, what I found has taken me back another full generation and given me leads that may take me even further still. As another bonus I found some great photos of another side of my family in the late 1800s, I've been in touch with the person in Australia thanking her for posting them on the site and I found yet more information on another branch of my tree in London and Canada.

Many thanks to you both,

with best regards Benvic.

Hi Carol Shane and Skibbgirl,

Thanks very much for your replies they give me lot to work with, it seems that not only is the surname Collins quite common but the given name Daniel for the Collins family is also, up until now I have only been able to find one member of the family in the 1861 census, that is Catherine the Daughter who is shown in service to a family in Bristol, the remaining family seem at present to have vanished.

I will work my way through what you have given me and hopefully find Daniel and Dennis and their family in Cork. Once again many thanks for taking the time to help me.

best regards,

Benvic.

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help me to find the Huggins family before 1843, what I have at present is a marriage in 1843 the certificate shows.

Daniel        Collins         bachelor      tailor         father,      Dennis Collins         tailor
Mary Ann    Huggins      spinster                       father       Abraham Huggins    laborer

The 1851 census shows,

Daniel        Collins     married     m  34  1817       journeyman tailor       Cork  Ireland
Mary Ann   Collins     married      f    29  1822      laundress                   St Michaels Bristol

I have not as yet been able to find Mary Ann or Abraham on any other census, or in fact their births. I believe that I may have found reference to a death for Mary Ann in the late 1850s but have not got the certificate yet.

The address shown for them on the census is 1 Walker Street, Westbury Upon Trym, Bristol. can anyone tell me what that area would have been like at that time.

Many thanks,

Benvic.

Cork / Daniel Collins b1817 Cork

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help me to find this Collins family in Cork sometime before 1840. What I have at present is a marriage that took place in Bristol England in 1843, the certificate shows,

Daniel Collins        full        bachelor     tailor       father,  Dennis Collins     tailor
Mary Ann Huggins full        spinster                    father,   Abraham Huggins     laborer

The 1851 census shows

Daniel   Collins    head  married   m 34  1817   journeyman tailor     Cork  Ireland
Mary Ann Collins  wife   married   f  29   1822   laundress                Bristol

I have not been able to find them in any other census so far but think I may have  death records for both (no certificates as yet) in late 1850s and early 1860s.

I would be very grateful for any sightings or information on Dennis and family in Cork and Daniel before he went to England.

Many thanks

Benvic.

Buckinghamshire Completed Look ups / Registers of electors lookup completed
« on: Tuesday 31 May 11 15:08 BST (UK)  »
I have an address in Burnham and would like to know the names of the adults who lived there from 1960 to 1971, if anyone is going into County Hall, Walton Street, Aylesbury, where I understand the registers to be kept I would be extremely grateful if they would do a quick lookup for me.

Because it's not that long ago and because members of the same family may still live there, rather than cause any possible embarrassment by publishing the details here could I please pass them by PM to any one able to help.

Many thanks in advance,

Regards,

Benvic.

Hi Wendy,

This may well be the lead that I hoped for, it does explain why it was not found among the schools that I searched.

Thanks very much,
Regards,
Benvic.  :)

Hello,

I've just started looking for the school within the past few weeks, I've looked through schools in Hampshire without success, the school was mentioned in a letter dated june 1973 that I have, but doesn't give indication of dates that it existed or indeed who worked there, I would have put the dates in if I had them, the letter although not originally sent to me was sent by someone who has since died so I cant confirm anything with her.
